**Purpose**

To provide team leadership to the Flat Shop and Dish Cell departments. The Team Leader will control all labour to the production plan and co-ordinate all quality trials, documenting the results.

The Team Leader will control all materials, production targets, Specifications/Methods, Work Instructions, Training Records, Dissection Reports, Risk Assessments/Safe Systems.

Note: In addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.

**Nature and Scope**

The Flat Shop/ Dish Team Leader reports to the Flat Shop /Dish Manager.

The Flat Shop /Dish Team Leader has the responsibility to develop and maintain positive working relationships with management, peers, colleagues and key customers in the interests of fostering trust and open communication and the achievement of business objectives/strategy.

Key relationships with Slip House, Kilns, Biscuit, H+S and People and Culture departments.

The role will require the Flat/Dish Team Leader to spend most of their time at the Dalehall site.

The specific demands of the role are described through the principal accountabilities outlined in this role description. The expected key competencies and key performance indicators for the effective execution of the role are also outlined in this document.

**Area of Responsibility**:

- To monitor all production, labour and targets within the department.
- To monitor all quality to company standards.
- To monitor all training records, work instructions and specifications/methods.
- Supervise all training needs.
- Deal with operational issues arising on a daily basis within the area.
- To record all production counts and faults and liaise with other departments to highlight any issues as early as possible, when manager is not available.
- Meet customers’ expectations and deadlines.

**Developing and Managing Team for Effective Performance**:

- Supports the Flat/Dish Manager in managing individual’s performances, providing feedback where required, for performance or training reviews etc.
- Manages shift labour effectively and varies according to volume and changes in the workplace.
- Identifies potential in team and coaches and mentors them to achieve their career goals.
- Ensure all training needs are satisfied to each Operative and ensure Operatives are coached on how to improve performance.
- Conducts counselling’s and RTW in line with company policy as and when required.
- Identify and report any training shortfalls to Flat/Dish Manager.

**Managing Attendance**:

- Consistently enforces the company sickness and absence policy.
- Ensures that Sickness and Absence (S&A) targets are not exceeded and that team holidays are managed in line with operational requirements.

**Communication and Influencing**:

- Clearly and concisely provides operational updates throughout your Shift to the Manager as required on an ad hoc basis.
- Conducts relevant team briefs.
- Ensure that the notice boards in their area are up to date.

**Health and Safety**:

- Contributes to the site H&S committee meeting and attends as required.
- Promotes a positive attitude to H&S and works to improve the IFR (Incident Frequency Rate).
- Ensures that all accident/incident investigations are carried out and reported to QESH.
- Ensure all Haz Spots are reported on a daily/shift basis and ensure that a suitable countermeasure has been put in place to prevent the incident/accident from arising again through the use of Lean Tools and Practical Problem Solving (PPS).
- Routinely conducts floor walks.
- Promotes all staff being correctly inducted to the site and that all Risk Assessments are in place and are being adhered to.
- Ensuring that their areas of responsibility are clean and tidy and in line with 5S standards.
