About the Role
The Sustainable Technologies Course Leader is a new position within the department, responsible for shaping and delivering a curriculum that focuses on sustainable refinishing techniques and technologies across various industries, including automotive, renewable energy (such as wind turbines), and aerospace. The role combines academic leadership, industry relevance, and a focus on sustainability to equip learners with the necessary skills to thrive in a rapidly evolving sector.
This position plays a crucial role in aligning education with the growing demand for eco-friendly and innovative technologies. The role requires a dynamic individual with deep knowledge of sustainable practices, particularly in refinishing processes and material technology, who can inspire both students and faculty to achieve excellence.
What You Will Do
- **Curriculum Development & Innovation**: You will lead the design and implementation of new modules and courses that are relevant to current and future industry needs, focusing on sustainability. This includes ensuring the curriculum reflects advancements in refinishing technologies and the broader move towards sustainable practices, such as the use of eco-friendly materials and processes in industries like automotive, wind energy, and others.
- **High-Quality Delivery & Student Outcomes**: The role involves ensuring high retention, achievement, and progression rates by delivering engaging, effective lessons that meet both academic and industry standards. You'll work closely with the teaching team to maintain high-quality delivery and adapt teaching practices to meet the diverse needs of students while ensuring they acquire the skills required for the green technology sectors.
- **Industry & Policy Alignment**: You’ll ensure that the course content is closely aligned with government policies, industry regulations, and employer needs, especially in the context of environmental sustainability. This includes preparing students for the evolving expectations of the labour market in sustainable technologies and refinishing sectors.
- **Assessment & Progress Monitoring**: You’ll be responsible for developing comprehensive assessment strategies that provide meaningful feedback to students, helping them progress in their learning and development. Tracking individual and group progress, you will ensure that all students meet their learning objectives and are prepared for the next step in their career or further education.
- **Student Engagement & Support**: The role demands a passion for motivating and inspiring students to not only meet academic goals but to think creatively about their role in a sustainable future. This includes helping them develop the transferable skills required for progression into industries that are increasingly focused on green technologies.
- **Quality Assurance & Improvement**: As part of maintaining high standards, you will complete course-level self-assessments and contribute to ongoing quality improvement plans. This ensures that the courses continually evolve to meet the changing needs of students, employers, and industry regulations.
- **Promotion & Outreach**: The role involves marketing the Sustainable Technologies courses through open days, transition activities, and events, providing high-quality information, advice, and guidance to prospective students. You’ll play a key role in attracting new talent to the college and highlighting the diverse career opportunities available in this field.
About You
- **Industry Experience**: Strong background in sustainable technologies, particularly in refinishing processes and materials across various sectors such as automotive, wind energy, aerospace, or similar industries. Experience with eco-friendly practices and innovation in these areas is highly desirable.
- **Teaching Experience**: Preferred but not essential.
