Job Title: Course Leader - Culinary Skills Salary: Commencing at £34,019 with progression to £39,424 per annumClosing Date: About the Role Leeds City College are recruiting for an enthusiastic Course Leader to lead our Level 2 and Level 3 Culinary and Professional Cookery courses.  You should have industry experience and be able to demonstrate skills in course management, meeting learner needs, and monitoring and driving attendance to ensure successful outcomes. You will join the School of Travel, Food and Drink, based at the historic Printworks campus. Travel, Food and Drink offers a number of courses for all ages and abilities, ranging from Entry 3 to Level 3 extended programmes of study. What You Will Do You will be responsible for retention, achievement, progress/value added, attendance and positive progression rates for an identified course or courses. Maintaining high quality and effective delivery across the course team and developing new modules, units and course. Responsible for developing new units, modules and courses in line with government policy, awarding organisation developments and student demand as well as local community, economic and employer requirements. Deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners and plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources and assessment plans. Help to ensure all team members maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area. Motivate and inspire students to achieve targets, develop their skills to enable progression, and be responsible for recording student progress and meeting individual and group learner targets. Develop and adapt curriculum delivery with the course team to maximise its effectiveness and efficiency Market courses and provide high quality IAG (including full participation in open days, transition activity, enrolment and induction). Complete a course level self-assessment report and maintain the course quality improvement plan. About You Holds a L5 Teaching Qualification. Relevant highest-level vocational qualification or degree in teaching subject.  English and Maths at Level 2 or above and a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to level 3 or above.  Relevant experience, knowledge and skills to enable delivery of a range of levels across the curriculum, which demonstrates active learning and differentiated teaching styles.  Experience of positively managing student and group progression, advice and guidance in a school or Further Education setting.  Substantial experience of undertaking internal verification and moderation activities.  Able to demonstrate ability to remain current in the specialist subject area (e.g. through professional development, professional organisations / trade associations, attendance at conferences, membership of communities of practice, etc.)  Benefits The group offers a range of excellent benefits, including:Annual leave:  Curriculum and Management: 44 days plus bank holidaysCurriculum support and business support: 39 days plus bank holidaysPension schemes with generous employer contributions: Teachers’ Pension SchemeLocal Government Pension SchemePeople’s Pension SchemeCPD opportunities: Annual staff conference plus 2 additional staff development days.Qualifications including PGCE, Apprenticeships, Leadership and Management courses.Employee wellbeing initiatives: Family Friendly Policies, discounted onsite spa     (Printworks) and gym (Park Lane).Travel and commuting:  Discounted travel available through Metro card, Northern Rail, First Bus, Arriva Bus and Cycle to work schemes.Flexible and hybrid working opportunities:  Please speak to the recruiting manager regarding flexible opportunities as these differ between roles.
