Our love of exploration and technical expertise help us to provide our clients with invaluable insights. We source and make sense of the most relevant Geo-data for their needs, so they can design, build and operate their assets more safely, sustainably and efficiently. For individuals who can take the initiative but work well within a team.
The role

This is pivotal role for someone with a hands-on engineering/technical background, ideally with experience of managing a small team and not afraid of driving improvements to processes and methods. Tasks will be varied, and include the repair of equipment and operating test equipment. You will be managing the workshop and ensuring the work is delivered to the required standard in a timely manner and to budget whilst working to the company’s Health and Safety standards. You will be establishing, implementing, and maintaining effective procedures and systems whilst prioritising, scheduling and delivering on time. As well as managing stock levels you will ensure that tools are kept in good condition and repaired or replaced accordingly. This role requires an effective communicator as you will be collaborating with internal stakeholders who are working on a variety of different projects and timelines.
Who we’re looking for:
- HND or equivalent in engineering
- Previous experience working as a technician or senior technician
- Experience soldering, crimping, electrical panel and cabinet wiring
- Experience of using oscilloscopes, PSU’s and voltmeters and other test equipment
- Able to read electrical diagrams and general arrangement schematics
- Experience of processes involved in adhering to the quality assurance system.
- Experience supervising staff
- Clean UK driving licence.
- Troubleshooting skills and high attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Good Microsoft Office capabilities.
- Excellent numeracy, literacy and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to work to deadlines.
What we offer:
Fugro provides a positive work environment as well as projects that will satisfy the most curious minds. We also offer great opportunities to stretch and develop yourself. By giving you the freedom to grow faster, we think you’ll be able to do what you do best, better. Which should help us to find fresh ways to get to know the earth better. We encourage you to be yourself at Fugro. So bring your energy and enthusiasm, your keen eye and can-do attitude. But bring your questions and opinions too. Because to be the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, we need the strength in depth that comes from a diverse, driven team.
- An environment where you can use your skills and actively contribute to project delivery but also innovation
- Career & training opportunities both nationally and internationally.
- Competitive salary accompanied by an attractive package including contributory pension scheme, life assurance and private medical insurance.
- An externally-provided Employee Assistance Program.
- 24 days annual leave, increasing to 25 days after 3 years, 26 days after 6 and 27 days after 10 years continuous employment.
- Option to buy up to 5 days annual leave.
- Option to lease an electric car.
- Our view on diversity, equity and inclusion_
At Fugro, our people are our superpower. Their variety of viewpoints, experiences, knowledge and talents give us collective strength. Distinctive beliefs and diverse backgrounds are therefore welcome, but discrimination, harassment, inappropriate behaviour and unfair treatment are not. Everybody is to be well-supported and treated fairly. And everyone must be valued and have their voice heard. Crucially, we believe that getting this right brings a sense of belonging, of safety and acceptance, that makes us feel more connected to Fugro’s purpose ‘together create a safe and liveable world’ - and to each other.
