**Who are we?**

Thames Water is the UK’s largest water and wastewater company. We make a daily difference to our 15 million customers by supplying 2.6 billion litres of water through 32,000 km of pipes, keeping taps flowing and toilets flushing.

At Thames Water, every one of our actions, big and small, matters every day. Water is essential to life, so our business is always open.

**What you will be doing?**

Emissions to water are regulated by the Environment Agency by means of Environmental permits. These permits require treated effluent flows to be constantly monitored, and the data reported to the Environment Agency. These permits also require monitoring and reporting of intermittent discharges, for spill event frequency and duration (Event Duration Monitoring).

As part of the Flow and Event Duration and Monitoring (EDM) team you will help to ensure that the Company has all the necessary flow and EDM monitoring in a place where needed by environmental statutory requirements, and that data is accurate, reliable, and readily available. You will also make sure that MCERTS certification requirements are met, documents kept up-to-date, and any actions identified tracked through to completion.

**What will this role involve?**
- Analysing and interrogating Flow and EDM data to look for trends, abnormalities, and inaccuracies.
- Coordinating and collating all necessary information and documentation to support the assessment of our environmental performance against environmental permits.
- Ensuring Flow and EDM data is accessible, up to date, and communicated across the business.
- Validating data with operational colleagues to ensure accuracy.
- Producing reports to inform compliance related activities, as and when required.
- Responding to stakeholder requests for data and understanding the context of this data and what it means for our compliance position.
- Building strong working relationships across business units including operations, asset management, engineering, and strategy & regulation.

**We’re looking for you to**:

- Preferably educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a scientific or environmental discipline and proficiency in the use of software packages (MS Office & Excel, PowerBI).
- Experience is desirable in an environmental discipline, for example, flow and EDM, environmental permitting or environmental compliance, but also important, is the ability to understand and interpret regulatory requirements about data assessment.
- You will need to have a high level of attention to detail and the ability to analyse and interpret data so as to understand what it is showing.
- Experience in stakeholder/regulator engagement.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential.
- This is a hybrid role that would involve a mixture of working from home or Thames Water.
