We have an outstanding opportunity in our Tropical Disease Biology Department, for a talented and motivated Research Assistant or Post Doctoral Research Associate to join our dynamic team at LSTM. The Department of Tropical Disease Biology (TDB) is a leading national and international research and teaching department with a focus on translational research of tropical infectious diseases.
**Key responsibilities include**:
- **Perform screening activities and endpoint analysis**:Perform screening experiments using _in vitro_ cell/tissue/parasite culture; Perform endpoint analysis using parasitological, bio-imaging and quantitative PCR; Maintain accurate records of samples processed and analyse data
- **Contribute to parasite/**_Wolbachia_** life-cycle maintenance and provision of experimental material**:Assist with collection and culturing of parasites and cells
- **Provide support to MSc, MRes and PhD students and other staff within the group**:Provide training in experimental analysis to others in the lab; Supervision and training of MSc, MRes and PhD students; Assist in the design and supervision of projects
- **Produce and disseminate research outputs**: Write, drafts and edit manuscript for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals; Effectively communicate results to other members of the group at laboratory meetings and to the scientific community at conferences and meetings; Co-ordinate experiments and data analysis between national and international collaborators
- PhD in Biomedical Research/parasitology (for PDRA)
- Skilled in drug screening analysis and techniques
- Skilled in filarial parasite/ _Wolbachia _cell culture
- Skilled in high content bio-imaging
- Experience of working with filarial nematodes
- Experience of working with _Wolbachia_
- Experience of _in vitro_ cell/tissue/parasite culture
- Experience of presenting at International conferences
