**Core hours**:Mon - Fri, 8:30am - 5:00 pm (you may be required to work additional hours to meet the demands of the role, additionally 3 Saturdays per year for quarterly stock take)

**Purpose of role**:
The role is to assist the purchasing manager with all aspects of purchasing products, materials, equipment to the highest safety, operational, quality and inventory management standards. To work with all functions to implement and facilitate improvements to optimise the receiving and issuing of goods to production, packaging and shipping finished goods, maximising productivity and customer satisfaction.

**The Company**:
We are a leading PVC manufacturer, based in Sowerby Bridge, are seeking a Purchasing Assistant to join them on a permanent basis as part of the operational team.

Part of an international group, a leading independent supplier of PVC Compounds, used in nearly all areas of plastics processing. Industry sectors include construction, packaging, electrical & electronics, transport, leisure and healthcare. The art and science of PVC compounding is at the heart of the company’s core expertise and its success is a blend of customer service, PVC-based expertise and versatile manufacturing. To remain at the forefront of its markets and as part of its customer led operational strategy, the business is investing in building a new warehouse and expanding its production capabilities.

**Job Role**:
The role will manage all aspects of production purchasing activity to the highest health & safety, operational, quality and inventory management standards. To work with other departments to implement and facilitate improvements to optimise the efficiency and maximise productivity. Purchasing scheduling all operational assets through campaigning and customer priorities and keeping a balance between factory efficiencies and customer needs.

**Core Responsibilities**
- Interrogate production plan and ascertain Raw Material requirements for the daily operation of the company.
- Customs Clearances - ChannelPorts submissions and Supplier liaison to progress the Importation of Goods as required.
- Sourcing competitive suppliers and prices.
- Ensuring materials sourced are compliant with the company’s standards.
- Maintain accurate stock inventory records.
- Ensuring all goods are purchased from approved suppliers.
- Raising purchase requests and orders on Syspro/docuware systems.
- Liaising with the materials team to ensure items have arrived and making quality aware of items requiring receiving inspection.
- Coordinating with site managers and engineers to ensure that costs are in line with expectations.
- Organising transport to deliver goods to and from site.
- Contacting suppliers to check availability of stock, prices, and lead times.
- Dealing with day-to-day issues i.e. missing items, ETA on deliveries, chasing orders, sourcing items to the required deadlines and informing the relevant people.
- Building supplier relationships to achieve cost reductions, great service, and improved lead times.
- Resolving issues with suppliers.
- Generate requirements list and distribute
- Collect/start raw material allocations to last 24 hrs production, check lot traceability and warehouse booking
- Telephone support for office as and when.
