You’ll discover a culture that nurtures individuality and an environment where everyone is supported to reach their potential. With us, you’ll always be moving forward.

**What do procurement consultants do?**

Procurement is the vehicle by which organisations interact with the market to obtain goods and services. Organisations, both within the public and private sector, are dependent on working with third parties, suppliers and partners to deliver operational and strategic success. Our consultants take a deep, objective look at organisational procurement practices and advise our clients on various approaches to securing commercially advantageous contracts as well as complying with relevant procurement regulations and policies.

We also support clients in managing and delivering individual procurement activities, from identifying the need for procurement to specifying requirements and engaging with the market through competitive tendering. Our advice and insights help businesses review their current approaches to procurement and contract management, and assist them in making improvements to processes, systems and controls to manage potential threats.

A career in procurement consulting gives you a front-row seat to witness how organisations carry out their relationships with their suppliers and business partners. We assist clients across the full procurement lifecycle and support the in buying / sourcing of goods and services within the market and setting up contracts for successful contract and supplier relationship management.

We help clients across the public and private sectors, so you could be working with local and central government, NHS Trusts and educational organisations, as well as charities, banks and other corporate organisations. Our varied client list will give you a great foundation to build your business knowledge.

**What can you expect?**

RSM’s graduate apprenticeship in procurement consulting is infinitely varied, interesting and rewarding. No client is the same, so you’ll be constantly challenged. Alongside hands-on experience, you’ll benefit from on-the-job training from more senior members of the team and gain access to our internal training courses that will help you develop in the role. With our support, you’ll become a true trusted adviser to your clients in the future.

Depending on the needs of the business and our clients, when not working at client sites, you will work in your nearest RSM office or from home as appropriate.

When you join this team, you will undertake training to obtain the Certificate in Public Procurement which is run by Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). In addition, you will work towards obtaining a diploma in purchasing and supply from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).

**What we look for**

Management consultants spend time working both independently as well as in small teams, so we’re on the lookout for enthusiastic self-starters who are quick to learn and always up for a challenge. That said, you’ll always be fully supported during client assignment - you’ll have a dedicated line manager and core team to learn from and be supported by. You’ll be working on a wide variety of projects, so it’s important that you’re adaptable and highly organised. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as you’ll be communicating at all levels, often explaining complex information both during meetings and in written reports.

If that sounds like you, we know you’ll enjoy being part of our team.

**Flexible working**

At RSM we work hard to create an environment where our people can make a difference - to themselves, their career, their teams, and to the success of our firm and clients. We support all our people to work flexibly, to manage their family and other responsibilities alongside their work commitments; we believe this is key to achieving an inspiring and fulfilling working environment.
