**PLAYWORKER JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title**:Play Worker - Weekends

**Rate of pay**:Meets NMW

**Hours: Casual**

**Base**:SPACE centre

**Responsible to**: Charity Manager

**The aim of the SPACE centre is to provide local children who have additional needs with the opportunity to play in a friendly and safe environment, as well as to provide parents and carers support, and the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation**.

**The core purpose of this role is to support the Project Coordinators in delivering fun, safe and accessible play sessions for children with additional needs, and their families, at the centre.**

**Main duties include**:

- Assist with planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
- Supporting and encouraging children to engage in appropriate activities.
- Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
- Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
- Administering first aid when necessary.
- Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities.
- Helping with administration, where necessary.
- Undertaking appropriate and relevant training.
- Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure.
- Working within the framework of the Charity’s policies and procedures.

Essential

Able to work as part of a team

An understanding of Safeguarding

Understanding the varied needs of children and their families

Experience of working within a play based setting

Work remotely

**Job Type**: Temporary
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: From £11.45 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 10 per week
