Job summary

Price's Mill Surgery is looking for a new member of our friendly team to join us in the role of Prescription Clerk and Receptionist. This is an opportunity for either full time hours or part-time working.

Reception is manned between 7.45 and 19:00. Some early and late cover will be part of the role.

Occasional Saturday morning's as part of a rota. Salary is £10.90 per hour after completion of training.

**Hours**:
Monday 0800-1230

Tuesday 1200-1730

Wednesday 1330-1730

Thursday 0800-12301300-1630

Main duties of the job

Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and professional image to patients and other visitors

Processing in person and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and direct patients to the appropriate healthcare professional or service

Facilitate effective communication with patients and other service users

Process repeat prescription requests and deal with prescription queries in accordance with practice guidelines

Job responsibilities

**The main duties of this role are**:
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way

Processing in person and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone appointments, prioritising whether requests are urgent or routine and booking in accordance with practice procedure

Processing all enquiries at the front desk, explaining practice polices, giving patients the appropriate paperwork where necessary and taking payment when required.

Provide general assistance to the wider Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Process the registration of temporary patients

Open incoming mail and forward to the appropriate person/team

Ensure internal mail and samples are collected by the pathology service

Computer data entry/data processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures

Accurately recording and passing on messages and information

Process paper, electronic and pharmacy initiated repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines, using reference to the prescription clerk handbook.

Promote and provide patients with the help and services the Practice can offer which will enable a better patient experience

Accepting deliveries to the practice in accordance with practice protocols

Liaise with other parties, such as the pharmacy or other healthcare workers, in a courteous manner as required for patient care purposes

Ensuring that the reception office and consulting rooms are kept tidy and well stocked with day to day requirements

Fulfil the practice premises requirements on your appointed days. This includes opening up, locking up, ensuring the building is secure and operating the burglar alarm in accordance with practice protocol

Working as a flexible member of the team to ensure the smooth running of the practice. This may include working overtime to cover absent colleagues or taking on other duties as appropriate.

Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the management team dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels.

Understanding of TPP SystmOne clinical system

Experience of working with prescriptions
