Rail is a fantastic industry to work in, offering real career development and opportunities. We want our teams to reflect the communities they serve, and our aim is for our teams to mirror the local population with representation across society and what better way in which to do this than becoming a **Rail Enforcement Officer**.
As a **REO** you will need strong customer service flair coupled with excellent interpersonal skills with an innate ability to build constructive relationships with people at all levels, whether that is our customers or the community that surrounds our network.
**Job Purpose**
Increase confidence of passengers and employees, reducing low level crime and antisocial behaviour. To patrol trains and stations independently and as part of a team and work in partnership with other departments and outside agencies including the police to ensure the security of our railway and to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour and fare evasion. To respond to emergencies and provide assistance as required to GTR personnel, police and other emergency services. To engage with GTR customers raising safety and security awareness and to improve customer satisfaction.
**Rail Enforcement Officers** work on a shift-basis covering unsocial and irregular hours, including weekends. Due to the shift times you must live in the local area and have available independent transport to ensure that you arrive at the station for the first shift and work your last shift as required as there may not always be a train service available.
**What we can offer you**:
- Final salary pension
- Free travel on GTR and sister groups for you and your family
- 75% off travel on other train operating companies for you, and leisure for your family
- Benefits package includes discounts with many retailers
GTR offers maternity, paternity and adoption leave and time off for prenatal care, as well as shared parental leave - all part of our commitment to family friendly policies.
Please refer to our Job Profile for a full job description of what is required.
**Please note that you will be required to take part in the BTP Vetting procedure which is a similar, but more stringent process as a CRB check.
