Are you a content designer with a strong eye for detail and a passion for clear, concise content that is focused on user needs?

Content designers make things easier for people to understand and use. This can involve working on a single piece of content on GOV.UK or on the end-to-end journey of a communication campaign to help users complete their goal and government deliver a policy.

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) deals with a vast range of issues that have a profound impact on people’s lives. We are at the heart of the justice system, an organisation working to bring the principles of justice to life for everyone in society.

We are looking to appoint a Content Designer to join our busy and high-performing digital communications team. It’s a role that is interesting and rewarding, working as part of a supportive digital communications team to design, write and publish content for GOV.UK, to help different audiences access and understand what’s going on in Government.

**Key responsibilities**

Content designers are responsible for creating, evaluating, updating and reviewing content at all stages of the end-to-end user journey.

In this role you will:

- create, improve, and publish user-centred content with support from more senior content designers
- be comfortable using evidence, data and research to make content decisions
- build relationships across government to focus on the needs of the user and to influence stakeholders
- work with policy teams to create accessible digital consultations
- work with the Government Digital Service (GDS) on new and existing GOV.UK content
- contribute to and use the style guides, branding and content patterns
- ensure all content assets are user focused, accurate, accessible, optimised appropriately (e.g. for search)
- engage with and contribute to the cross-government content community
- work in an agile team to support delivery, respond to feedback and improve publishing processes

**Knowledge, skills and experience**:
**Essential**
- Strong writing and editing skills with an eye for detail
- Skilled at writing for different topics, audience groups, purposes, styles and formats
- Able to make complex language and processes easy to understand
- Experience of using content publishing systems
- Communicate confidently with stakeholders to understand their issues
- Experience working to tight deadlines or under pressure

**Desirable**
- Using analytics, user feedback, and/or user research to improve content
- An understanding of accessible communications and formats
- Skills in photo editing software such as Photoshop
