Bicester, United Kingdom South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Are you looking to make a real difference to patients, our community and colleagues?

Are you looking for the challenge of working in a fast paced, dynamic and adaptable Service, with a career that’s not just ‘another job’?

We are looking to recruit reliable and enthusiastic Dispatch Assistants to join our motivated, friendly and hardworking team based in Bicester, Oxfordshire, to support the smooth running of our EOC department.

We are offering a great basic salary of £20,330 (for full-time). For all hours that you work between 8pm and 6am Monday - Friday and all-day Saturday you will earn a shift bonus which means you will earn approximately £14 per hour. For Sundays and Public Holidays, you will earn approximately £17.60 per hour.

The Role of an Emergency Dispatch Assistant

We are looking for Dispatch Assistants to work as part of our dynamic team to help support our 999 service. You will be working as part of a two person dispatch team to effectively utilise the allocation of emergency and non-emergency vehicles to incidents.

As part of the team, you will be working in the ambulance control centre alongside call takers, clinicians and other NHS professionals. You will be directly involved with the allocation of vehicles to a large variety of situations which would include anything from a Road traffic collision to someone having a cardiac arrest. You will be operating a range of radio, text and computer assisted dispatch systems as well as maintaining vehicle and incident logs.

You will be required to demonstrate excellent communication and organisation skills whilst maintaining a calm and professional manner. Being able to retain composure in busy and stressful situations is vital for this role. This is a challenging and exciting career where no two shifts are ever quite the same.

**We are looking for people who can demonstrate**:

- Great customer services experience which involves talking to people and helping them;
- Good communication skills (written and verbal);
- Computer literacy and keyboard skills (full systems training will be given);

The Recruitment Process

2. Interview - an online interview with our EDA team from the ambulance service, discussing your skills, experience and providing an opportunity for you to find out more about the role.
3. Assessment session - an online assessment session gauging your listening and understanding skills, critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills and SCAS knowledge. You will need to have access to a webcam and a laptop or PC to do the assessments (you will need to use a keyboard).

**Benefits**:

- Holiday entitlement is 27 days plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata for part time).
- Training and support from our dedicated in-house education team.
- A nationally recognised qualification in 999 emergency call prioritisation.
- Occupational Health support along with an Employee Assistance Programme.
- Enrolment into the NHS Pension Scheme.
- NHS Discounts in over 200+ stores including holidays, days out, car insurance, restaurants and clothing.
- Progression opportunities within the organisation.

Please be advised that we reserve the right to close this campaign earlier than the advertised closing date.
