Welcome & Service Assistant

Working within a bustling atmosphere as part of passionate team, you'll play a core part in welcoming visitors to the Ashridge Estate and providing fantastic customer service. Ashridge Estate is and lovely mix of ancient trees, rolling chalk downlands and lush meadows in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

**Contract duration**:Permanent

You will be working 4 days a week on a rolling rota system. Flexibility will be essential during our peak visitor seasons. There will be a requirement to work regular weekends.

Ashridge Estate is one of the largest woodlands owned by the National Trust. You will work alongside the small team of staff and volunteers ensuring everyone who visits has an amazing time. This landscape is loved by many and enjoyed by millions of visitors each year; therefore, we are looking for an engaging person with a can-do attitude who enjoys interacting with people. You will report into the Visitor Experience Officer at Ashridge who is part of a well-established network of support in the property.

You will join a community of people who enjoy, protect and want to learn more about our properties and the stories they hold. Our team are central to creating the brilliant experience that visitors have at our places. Be part of our wonderful team in offering a warm welcome to every visitor, sharing stories that intrigue and inspire.

What you'll be doing:You will staff the visitor reception at the Ashridge Estate Visitor Centre and be the first person visitors meet when they arrive. You’ll develop outstanding knowledge of Ashridge and the local area as you’ll be responsible for answering queries and making sure visitors can find everything they need for their visit. You will operate the till and process members and admissions at the Bridgewater Monument.

Understanding how and why we engage our supporters is key. Working with our spirit of place you’ll work with the rest of the team to link everything we do back to our cause and the on-going work we do.

You’ll deliver high standards of presentation at the property, always keeping the reception area and toilets clean and free of litter as well as helping to ensure all our communications with our visitors are clear and consistent, from the first click on the website, to the posters and signs around the property.
