Google Showcase Weekend Journalist

We are embarking on a project to get our most important stories seen by more people than ever before on Google’s platforms.

You will be joining our **Google Showcase team,** and will curate the very best stories from around our company and promote them via new digital products.

This is a **six month fixed term contract** which exists to help our Google Showcase team to deliver content that informs, inspires and indulges our readers.

In this role, as the title suggests you will be working over the weekend with two days off between Monday and Friday.

This will include finding and managing fresh new content as well as editing and ensuring high standards are carried out at all times.

In the last year the Google Showcase team has grown four times in size and we’re looking to expand again with this position.

In this position you’ll have the opportunity to work across the majority of Reach PLC titles including **Mirror and Express to the Manchester Evening News and dozens more..**

Our Showcase panels are read by tens of millions of people every month and is one of the fastest growing areas in digital publishing today.

**Key Responsibilities**
**What will the role involve?**
- Deciding which stories to promote and at what time of the day to maximise audience.
- Understand breaking news situations and producing Google Showcase panels quickly and accurately.
- Publish content online, and ensure Reach digital publishing standards are met at all times.
- Deciding what format to publish Google Showcase panels in.
Driving followers to all our titles within Google.
- Flexibility across content types and working patterns - weekend and shift work is required.
- Ensure IPSO standards are met at all times, and every piece of content is legally sound.
- Fostering a high-performance culture by setting clear expectations and having in-the-moment performance discussions.
- Developing a culture of trust, where people are safe to speak up, clear on their role in the team’s success and empowered to be their best at work.

**Who are we looking for?**
- Digital publishing skills.
- Passion for digital storytelling
- Communication, including written, face-to-face, presentation skills and the ability to cascade consistent messages for maximum impact.
- NCTJ or equiv qualification
- Deep knowledge of media law
- Successful background in developing people
- Digital publishing experience
