The role of Staff Writer (Louder/Metal Hammer), is a key one for our online strategy. Working with the Louder team and the Metal Hammer print team, and reporting to the Editor, Louder/Metal Hammer, the Staff Writer (Louder/Metal Hammer) is responsible for creating and distributing high-quality content for a highly engaged audience across print and digital as part of an interim maternity leave solution.
**Job Summary & Purpose**:
We are looking for a skilled and driven journalist with an interest and love of heavy music in all its forms, and a talent for creating engaging content to take on this exciting role.
Reporting to the Editor In Chief of Louder/Metal Hammer, and working alongside the wider print team and the online team, you will be responsible for populating Louder with the best metal content - news, features, reviews, and more - writing features for the print mag, and managing content distribution and atomisation across the site. You will help repurpose and publish relevant content from the magazine’s print archive online, update existing content, and help where required across social media and newsletter creation.
You’ll need to ensure the website is always up to date and, if possible, ahead of the curve. You’ll have a talent for creating sharp, quality content; strong SEO knowledge or the ability to learn quickly, as well as the ability to adapt while working in a fast-paced and ambitious environment. We are looking for a team player who is hungry, self-motivated with a positive problem-solving attitude.
**Key role responsibilities**:
- Contributing new metal content (new features, reviews, etc) to Louder and Metal Hammer
- Creating and distributing content across print and digital
- Creating 1-2 magazine features per month
- De-archiving content from Metal Hammer and publishing it online - Creating and executing a schedule/process for managing archive content. - Promoting stories via social media channels
- Ensuring the audience for this digital content is maximised in line with best practice SEO
- Monitoring performance of articles and social media posts to assess what content is most effective
- Updating existing articles on the websites, ensuring they remain relevant and rank highly
- Help with eCommerce efforts as required
- Working with the wider music portfolio, as directed
- Support the commercial team in achieving revenue growth targets.

**What do I need to succeed?**:
- Proven ability to write high-quality, engaging content
- Interest in and a passion for heavy music
- An understanding of SEO best practices and the ability to quickly develop these skills
- Ability to use Google Analytics to report on and inform content strategies - Knowledge and experience of content management systems
- Knowledge and experience of social media platforms
- Knowledge and experience of creating newsletters
- Able to interpret and use audience behavioural data
- Excellent communication skills between both PR and internal contacts - Able to represent Future brands externally at events and launches when relevant
