**Youth Mentor**

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge and to be part of a committed team in Maidstone.
Do you have the compassion, patience and the experience required to support children who may have social, emotional and/or Mental Health needs?
We are searching for a proactive and engaging individual available as soon as possible, to work in a school based in the Medway. This will involve someone who is able to build positive relationships, support vulnerable young people and aspire them to believethat they can reach their full potential.
The role requires an organised practitioner who is an advocate for supporting mental health and wellbeing for children across the school. They will be able to identify barriers to learning and plan and deliver a programme of support.
**Other Important Aspects Of The Role Include**
- Supporting and promoting mental health and wellbeing through prevention, identification, early support and access to specialist support.
- Devising, implementing and evaluating specialised programmes of work, which include SMART targets, to encourage and promote a pupil's social, emotional and mental health needs, including play therapy for both individuals or within a group.
- Planning and facilitating structured games and activities, to support pupils to make appropriate use of unstructured times. These should be carefully timetabled into the week in collaboration with class teachers.
- Working with teaching staff/Senior Leadership Team/Achievement Leaders to devise and implement individual learning plans to promote pupils' academic, social, emotional and mental health needs.
- To observe and monitor pupil progress, adapting an agreed approach to meet particular needs, recording and maintaining records of pupils' development and progress.
- Communicating effectively and by working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and external support as required to ensure effective provision for all our pupils.
- Monitoring pupil's progress before, during and after intervention to measure the impact of the intervention strategy on progress; include student evaluations.
- Maintaining a record of evaluations as evidence of effective practice, support and guidance.
- Networking with other staff with similar roles to share good practice Planning and delivering after school clubs.
