Strategic Sourcing Buyer

What you'll be doing: Foodbuy is a leading food procurement organisation based in the UK.With over £1bn of managed spend, we bring together the widest range of foodservice and hospitality clients to buy food and non-food. We work closely with our clients to deliver expert procurementservices saving them time and money, enabling them to focus on what really matters to their businesses.

We now have an opportunity for a Strategic sourcing buyer to join Foodbuy in the strategic sourcing function. Our strategic sourcing function is a critical enabler to ensuring we are supplying the right products and services, at the right price, whilst supportingour wider strategic priorities around Net Zero, Social Value and beyond. This is a critical role within Foodbuy that enables and supports delivery of our strategic sourcing activity. The primary purpose of the team is to develop and execute strategies to securevalue for all clients through taking categories or spend to market based on agreed triggers. Following the Foodbuy Procurement Process (FPF) and working in partnership with category development, CBM and supply chain teams to ensure we deliver sourcing excellence,with clearly demonstratable value delivery for all clients. On average we ‘go to market’ on over £250m of annual spend across our clients each year, presenting an opportunity to have a real impact on our supply chain.

In addition, this role works extensively alongside our Category, Account teams, and the wider business to deliver our commercial KPI’s, work on strategic projects that have wider impact across the organisation and represent Foodbuy in the wider marketplace.

- Leading strategic and tactical work streams and delivering results on sourcing projects
- Learning and developing your procurement and buying skills through the Foodbuy Procurement Framework
- Utilising Scanmarket, our online strategic sourcing platform, to comply with internal governance and external audits
- Build great relationships with clients, stakeholder and the internal team, collaborating to help identify future opportunities for value creation
- Raise the profile of the Strategic Sourcing activity and outcomes, by creating a platform to ‘tell our story’, both internally and across our client base
- Develop and maintain a great internal and external network and working relationships with key stakeholders

- Ensures the safe and ethical sourcing of great products and services
- To understand and promote the safe, ethical, environmental and local credentials of category, products and/or services
Who you are:

- Working knowledge of end-to-end supply chain within a retailer, foodservice or FMCG organisation
- Strong decision maker, with good commercial acumen who is comfortable working under pressure
- Proven ability to reduce cost against tough market backdrops
- Demonstration of strategic procurement, which extends beyond tactical tenders
- Ability to work under pressurised timelines and deadlines
- Confident presenter
- Versatile influencer, not afraid to challenge across all levels of seniority
- Evidence of an ability to work cross-functionally
- Ambitious high performer with excess enthusiasm, energy and resilience
- Highly commercial, strong negotiator, exceptional communicator and influencer at all levels
- Strong buying pedigree & Category management knowledge
- Advanced computer skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- The ability to multi-task, remain calm under pressure and always maintain a strategic viewpoint
