If you have aspirations within Youth and Criminal Justice, this Learning Support Assistant role in Cheltenham, Gloucester, set in a specialist provision for children aged 5-11, all with Social, Emotional and Mental health challenges.

SEN LSA role - Mental Health and trauma setting in Education - Role to begin immediately, Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 3:45pm, term time only.

This role is for a graduate focussed on their objectives within advocacy and social justice, this role involves working 1:1 and small groups, within classes of 4-6 students, the boys and girls either start in school from the age of 5 or join from a mainstreamschool, at a later age. This changes the dynamics of each class and how each child will identify and see themselves. Each child in the school will have an Education Healthcare Plan for their Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges.

It is great to see a specialist provision set up so early 5-11 years old, rather than waiting until the ages of 9 or 11 to empathetically engage with a child. Many of the children will have been through a significant trauma, dictating the child's behaviourand schooling.

Restorative practices are key in this school, if there is a behaviour challenge, which must mean there is a need not being met for the child.
