Position Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Samsung for a ‘Project Manager - Strategic Projects’, reporting to the Director of Sales. As a PM of Strategic Projects, you’ll play a crucial role within the UK National Account Team, ensuring that we maximise our retailer partner relationships, resulting in aligned plans, improved execution and solid category growth. This is a high-profile role, working closely with senior stakeholders across a portfolio of exciting consumer brands in a fast paced, multinational environment. This PM will own our negotiation process directly with a Trading, Commercial and Procurement Directors across leading UK Operators and Retailers including BT/EE, Virgin-Media O2, Carphone Warehouse and Argos.

Role and Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities:
Contract Management
- Own high-value and complex contract negotiations, across a range of retail partners (Operator, Retail and PurePlayers), and the implementation of subsequent contracts.
- Directly represent the face of Samsung, amongst Director level negotions across trading, procurement and legal functions within our account base.
- Lead the Account & Marketing teams to scope, plan, negotiate, execute and review new contractual plans with their lead accounts.
- Pull together a range of functional stakeholders, including account management, marketing, retail (field & contact centre), procurement, legal and finance, ensuring that all understand the process and deliver to your overall project plan.
- Manage any supporting agency relationships, to ensure they train and prepare front line account teams for high intensity negotiation practices.
- Own the overall negotiation and contract project plan, ensuring that plans stay on track, regardless of internal or external curveballs. Ensure the Leadership and wider stakeholders are kept up to date with plans, pre-empting challenges and gaining early alignment to pivot situations where necessary.
- Ensure contracts and their execution plans are recorded, maintained, executed and reviewed.

Stakeholder Management
- Work regularly with the MX Leadership team to ensure commercial opportunities are maximised and risks managed within a dynamic and fast moving environment.
- Understand stakeholder strategy and motivation and ensure they are reflected in the strategic category planning and in the day to day conversations.
- Bold, objective and creative communication with stakeholders, challenging as necessary and working through issues to ensure a convergence of objectives.
- Working with and alongside Finance, Legal and Procurement teams to deliver a cohesive decision making process and a smooth end to end contractual service to the business.

General
- Ensure compliance with Samsung’s legal and procurement policies.
- Ensure compliance with corporate product, quality, environmental and corporate social responsibility requirements.
- Ensure that appropriate management information and reporting is produced and circulated covering pipeline and active activities as required.

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

- 8+ years directly related experience either in a corporate branded environment addressing indirect categories/procurement projects, or from an Consumer Electronics/FMCG marketing department.
- Demonstrated successful results in managing and leading and/or engaging in strategic commercial contracts or activities.
- Proven ability to lead internal and external teams to ensure successful and professional contractual or procurement activities.
- Prior experience of influencing and managing successful change processes.
- Confidence in developing internal and external relationships and presenting to c-suite executives.
- High level of interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex problems using data from various sources with strong attention to detail and use of strong excel skills.
- Good oral and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate to stakeholders at all levels.
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant area such as Supply Chain, Procurement, Marketing, Business Management and/or professional procurement certification (CIPS) preferred but not essential.

What does success look like?
- Ensuring that contracts are agreed and signed as per current roadmap; 2 accounts by 01.05.23, 2 accounts by 01.07.23, remaining roadmap to be scoped by Omni Channel Contract Lead.
- 80% of planned contract additions agreed with accounts.
- Potential delays and challenges avoided, through early escalation and contingency planning with the MX Leadership team and positining pre-aligned.
- Feedback from MX LT around project ‘ownership’, ‘results delivery’ and ‘ensuring the project stays on track’ (rating avg 4/5).
