**Hours of work**: Full time 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Very occasional need to be on site at weekends.

**About the role**:
Reporting to the HR Director, our HR Lead is the first point of contact for people issues. They support our line managers and team members by providing advice and guidance on employee relations and engagement.
The role needs a partnering and coaching approach, whilst always ensuring that HR interventions support the priority of customer service and business performance. This is a proactive, hands-on role that involves getting out into the business, seeing, listening and doing.
Our HR Lead will be line manager to our HR team made up of part time HR Administration and In House Recruitment team members and will encourage processes that support efficiency and effective outcomes.
Our HR Lead will work closely with the HR Director both in consultation regarding issues that may arise, and to continuously develop and improve our HR systems, policies and procedures across the business. The business is supported by external consultancy for more complex issues.
**Key Activities include but are not limited to**:
- Be the primary point of contact for managers on HR-related queries.
- Offer an open-door policy to all team members, providing them with access to speak to you about any employment related issues, or personal issues that may affect their employment and deal with these in a sensitive, professional and appropriate manner.
- Provide regular updates and consult with the HR Director on any employee relation issues, welfare concerns, performance management, grievance or other employee issues.
- Coach managers in the resolution of employee relations issues, performance and absence management. Providing support through conducting employee meetings, calls or written communication where required whilst ensuring company policy and processes are followed and documented correctly.
- Oversee the HR team in the onboarding of new team members, including right to work checks and contracts.
- Oversee the HR team in the preparation and handling of all personnel records, probation periods, change to terms, reference requests, and exit communication, ensuring data is accurate, complete and up to date.
- Monitor absences and advise on absence issues when they arise.
- Oversee staff benefits’ administration.
- Identify and action any employee learning, development and training needs, alongside our H&S Manager.
- Co-ordinate and lead our annual appraisal process.
- Continuously seek to develop and improve our HR systems, policies and procedures across the business.
- Foster strong employee communication through e-newsletters, posters and other online channels.
- Attend regular managers meetings to keep up to date with business operations and performance.
**We are looking for**:
An experienced HR professional with proven success in advising, guiding, and coaching managers on a wide range of employee relation issues and a commitment to developing a supportive workplace.
- CIPD Level 5
- Experience/Qualification in Mediation desirable
- Up to date knowledge of employment law, processes, and best practices and experience of using this knowledge to provide sound advice on a wide range of Employee Relation matters.
- Exceptional communication skills and excellent spoken English, with a particular strength in clear communication during difficult or sensitive conversations.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good working knowledge of MS 365 and Office Suite.
- Proven ability to work effectively to tight deadlines.
- Ability to prioritise and balance a wide range of different activities and conflicting demands.
- Good commercial acumen, understanding the wider operating business environment.
- A team player, not afraid to get their hands dirty and muck in
