**The Role**
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Buyer to be based on site with our FMCG manufacturing client based in Sunderland. This is a full-time position to cover maternity leave for approx. 12 months.
The Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of the goods and services the business needs to operate. This includes direct product requirements for packaging and ingredients as well as supporting wider business needs for indirect purchasing. You will ideallyhave a background in FMCG and Manufacturing, preferably within the food and beverage industry. ?
**Responsibilities**
- Using the MRP, forecast inventory demand, and manage stock levels accordingly, balancing availability, spend and cash flow.
- Research new materials and alternative suppliers, focusing on quality, sustainability, and cost.
- Develop and lead an SRM program, regularly monitoring and reporting on supplier performance.
- ?Negotiate supply agreements/contracts, and continually review to ensure value for money.
- Support zero loss projects.
- Lead supplier audits with the Quality and Technical Manager.
- Forecast price trends for key commodities.
- Support tender processes across the business and help evaluate bids.
- Produce reports, statistics and presentations on market trends, budget adherence, savings, and supplier performance.
- Seek to drive cost and production efficiency to improve KPI's and service levels.

Skills, Knowledge and Attributes
- Proven communication skills with ability to flex styles to differing individual needs.
- Experience in FMCG and Manufacturing, preferably within the food and beverage industry.
- Highly computer literate.
- A logical and systematic approach to work.
- Good time management ability.
- The ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions.
- Commercial awareness and numeracy skills.
- The ability to manage change.
- Project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Negotiation and analytical skills.
- A positive attitude to continued learning.
- Experience of Sage 200 beneficial.
