Our current way of working supports a hybrid approach, and the preference of home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager to achieve the right balance between collaboration, in-person engagement and flexibility. Your home office would be Victoria Quay, Edinburgh with the opportunity to work from our Glasgow hub office.
Overview of the Role
Internal communication activities include overseeing and producing content as well as working with others in the organisation to handle/advise on their communications requests. We strive to make our decisions as evidence based as possible, so monitoring the effectiveness of our communications is crucial to improve our activities and inform future planning.
Being part of the Comms team, the role also involves acting as a brand guardian, ensuring style and visual guidelines are followed by all RS staff and corporate key messages are communicated consistently.
**Job description**:
Specific Duties
- Manage of our key internal communications products, including the organisation and running of the weekly All-staff meeting, the CEO’s End-of-week message, content production and maintenance of the RevNet intranet.
- Monitor the Comms inbox and act as the first point of contact for external stakeholders in regards queries regarding messaging, our website, and requests for the Revenue Scotland, as well as internally for team administration.
- Work with colleagues from around the organisation (e.g., Tax operations team, project/working groups) to address their communications needs, advise on effective content/formats/platforms to use to share messages.
- Act as a ‘brand guardian,’ i.e., being familiar with the corporate style and brand guides as well as accessibility standards and best practice, to ensure that all our communications adhere to them consistently and advise/train colleagues in that regard.
- Work with the Digital Communications Manager to support the management (including content production, monitoring and maintenance) of our external digital platforms, i.e., website, social media.
- Support the planning and running of internal events (managing diaries, arranging speakers, venue contacts and invitations as well as working with internal stakeholders to develop agendas, presentations, and info packs).
- Lead the intranet transition project which will involve the imminent redevelopment of our intranet platform when SharePoint Live becomes available.

Essential Criteria
- Excellent oral communication and people skills with experience at building and maintaining effective relationships, and at giving information/advice to stakeholders who may have varying levels of knowledge/understanding.
- Excellent written communication skills, with experience of writing for a variety channels/platforms aimed at different internal and external audiences (e.g., intranet, guidance documents, website, social media).
- Strong organisational skills, including high standards of accuracy and attention to detail (such as for copywriting/proofreading), with the ability to manage a range of competing priorities with a flexible and proactive approach.
- Good judgement and ability to work with limited supervision, while also working effectively as part of a team, identifying and raising issues with senior team members.
