**Support Worker (Permanent or Bank)**

**NOTE: experience with care work, working with children or strong equivalent experience or education is required.**

**Job Specification**

For sleep-in nights we pay;
- £11.55 per hour for all daytime hours, £17.325 for weekend daytime hours and £23.10 per hour for bank holiday daytime hours.
- A lower sleeping night rate for hours between 11pm and 7am when you are expected to be asleep. A standard Sleep-In night shift would be 8pm - 10am, so this would comprise of 8 sleeping hours and 6 waking hours.

Forest Youth Services are a family-run service created to offer Supported Living placements for young people aged 16-18 with a therapeutic ethos based around Systemic Family Therapy. Our staff undertake training in Systemic Practice along with regular group supervision with qualified Systemic Psychotherapists. This equips our staff with the knowledge and space to provide thoughtful and creative support to our young people.

Forest Youth Services is invested in implementing a model of Systemic Practice, as such you will have the opportunity to engage in a training program to include an introduction to systemic practice. Regular Group Reflective Supervision will be attended to discuss practice, relationships and development within the Supported Living Placement. In between group reflective supervisions small reading tasks will be set with an expectation of completion by the following group reflective supervision. As a Support Worker you will additionally have the responsibility of assisting in completing recordings and report writing.

**Main Duties**
- Support young people to the highest standard and in line with their Pathway Plan and cultural needs and wishes.
- Support young people to be in training, education or employment, to include researching and considering options in line with the young person's wishes and feelings.
- To encourage and support wholesome living and productivity, to include healthy activity and healthy eating.
- To encourage and role model pro social behaviour and conflict management.
- Assist and encourage young people to engage in everyday home, social and leisure activities, as necessary and according to the individual’s choice.
- Support people with their health needs as required, e.g. making and attending health appointments.
- Keep accurate and up to date records and report writing
- Support young people with their finances and weekly shopping. To include menu writing and planning, shopping list writing and shopping.
- Promote health, safety and well-being of the people we support.
- Work positively with colleagues, families and external organisations and professionals. To include a focus on clear communication and interagency working in the best interests of our young people.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Improve the support provided by discussing any new ideas. Participate in learning and development opportunities as required and attend regular group reflective supervision.
- Undertake any other duties as appropriate.

Pay: £11.55-£17.33 per hour
