**Maintenance Worker**

**24 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.**

**Actual Salary £13,315 - £13,899 (FTE £22,192 - £23,165)**

Clervaux Garden School is an exciting and innovative provision which offers full time education to students from 10-19 years who have significant/complex social, emotional or educational difficulties. The school provides an educational experience embedding the RMT Practical Skills Therapeutic Educational curriculum with accredited qualifications.

The Maintenance Worker’s primary role will be to work as part of a maintenance team to maintain and repair our buildings, fixtures and fittings at all Trust sites across Darlington.

Applicants must have excellent practical skills and a full driver’s licence. Must be willing to work flexibly, travelling between the sites and residential houses which are situated across Darlington. The core working hours will be daytime during the week, however, the Maintenance Worker may occasionally be required to respond to emergency evening and weekend callouts where necessary, with time taken off in lieu.

**The key duties of this role will include**:

- Carrying out all aspects of site maintenance and repairs except for gas and electrical works
- Assembling and carrying out repairs to office and domestic furniture
- Carrying out basic landscaping/outdoor maintenance
- Visiting local merchants to obtain materials as required
- Responding to emergency call outs possibly in the evenings and at weekends
- Some caretaking duties

**The criteria required to undertake this position successfully include**:

- Experience and practical skills in property maintenance and Health and Safety
- A team worker who is able to follow instructions and solve problems using their own initiative
- Experience of carrying out a varied workload ensuring completion of tasks within strict deadlines
- Having a full clean driving license as you will be required to drive site vehicles
- Experience of working in a building maintenance or caretaking role with DIY skills
- Trade background and experience of repairing school, office or residential buildings would be desirable although not essential
- Experience of working in a similar type of organisation with young people who have special education needs would be advantageous
