**Job summary**:
The Resettlement part of the Social Housing and Resettlement Directorate (SHARD) leads the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities’ work to support the welcome, resettlement and integration of people seeking safety in the UK through protected routes. This includes:

- Leading within the Department on resettlement and migration policy and responding to any future humanitarian or resettlement events
- Responsibility for the Homes for Ukraine Programme, which has seen a groundswell of support from the public to offer homes across the UK;
- Oversight of the Hong Kong British Nationals (Overseas) Welcome Programme which supports local authorities to work closely with VCS partners to help Hong Kong BN(O) arrivals to successfully settle in the UK.
- Close working with the Home Office and local councils to support the resettlement and integration of Afghan and British Nationals who have arrived in the UK as part of the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) and the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) schemes.
- Overseeing coordination and connections across the range of DLUHCs interests including wider cohorts.

Our work includes strong collaboration with a range of government departments, local partners and agencies and the voluntary sector to ensure we are helping Ukrainians, Afghans, Hong Kong BN(O)s and other newly arrived cohorts to secure appropriate accommodation and access the services they need to integrate into their new communities.

The Analysis and Data team is a friendly, cross profession team that works across policy teams in the Resettlement part of SHARD to ensure policy making is underpinned by high quality evidence and analysis.

We are recruiting for an economic advisor to work in the strategic analysis unit of the Analysis and Data team.

**Job description**:

- The Analysis and Data team brings together strategic analysis, data and reporting for the various refugee and resettlement programmes in the directorate. We are recruiting for a G7 as economic advisor in the Strategic Analysis team.
- You will have key responsibilities for leading and delivering economic analysis to inform the development of resettlement policy and strategy across the directorate.
- Responsibilities will include:

- Leading on VfM analysis (e.g. cost benefit, cost effectiveness analysis) to support funding and policy decisions on the Homes for Ukraine programme, Communities for Afghan and wider resettlement policies.
- Leading briefings for ministers senior officials and HMT on economic analysis for the directorate
- Developing and maintaining key relationships with analytical and policy colleagues in DLUHC and across Whitehall to co-develop economic analysis
- Working with statisticians and social researchers in the team and across Whitehall, to develop analytical/ briefing tools to support a better understanding of resettled cohorts.
- Management of 1 x HEO economist - providing leadership and clarity on work areas, supporting development

**Person specification**:
Key criteria:

- Ability to synthesise evidence from a range of sources and produce high quality outputs for briefing senior officials and ministers
- Ability to deliver at pace in a continually evolving policy context, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Excellent stakeholder management skills to maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of colleagues in the analytical and policy professions
- Strong quantitative analysis skills. Knowledge of coding languages (eg Python, R) and statistical software would be desirable but not essential.
