ARK Resettlement is a voluntary sector organisation which support people involve in the criminal justice system. We support service users upon release from prison to resettle into the community by providing short term accommodation.
**Project description**
The CARE (Community Action to Retrain Ex-offenders) Project will engage and empower persons on probation with coping mechanisms and new transferable life skills (or strengthen existing skills), improve their motivation and aspiration to achieve personal goals, support to access training, employment and volunteering opportunities and (through delivering the user-led provision) further engage in their local community, thereby leading a life of positivity and independence. This project will take place in the boroughs of Haringey and Enfield.
**Main Responsibilities**:
Assist the project manager and provide support to persons on probation (beneficiaries) through the following:
- Support the Project Manager in delivering weekly life skill sessions to people on probation (beneficiaries);
- Co-ordinate volunteer support
- Facilitate and oversee the fortnightly health and wellbeing activities, peer support group sessions and assist the volunteers and peer leaders where needed;
- Assist in overseeing the delivery of the user-led community work;
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating the impact and progress of the project.
**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Ensure support provided is person-centered and vulnerable beneficiaries are treated with dignity, respect and beneficiaries are supported to achieve personal and aspirational goals during the life skill sessions.
- Assist in providing CV and job interview mock tests to the beneficiaries.
- Assist Project Manager and senior staff in providing up-to-date information on local council support available (including welfare benefits and support with housing).
- Assist the beneficiaries in the wellbeing, sports, creative arts and social activities provision, providing advice and encouragement to stay healthy and co-ordinate volunteer support where needed.
- Supervise user-led community work, providing assistance where needed.
- Encourage and support beneficiaries (including the peer leaders) to take a lead role in the peer discussions and peer-2-peer support.
- Complete weekly beneficiary attendance and progress reports.
- Join the project manager and participate in steering group meetings, helping to inform the strategic development of the project.
- Collate information to assist the project manager and ARKRS staff in producing the end of year case studies.
- Work closely with sessional workers (counselling, mentoring, group therapy) on developing Life Skills and Mentoring Sessions
**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist ARKRS staff in ensuring all outdoor sessions and activities are delivered under a safe, comfortable, and inspiring environment.
- Ensure the needs of beneficiaries and volunteers are met during the sessions/activities.
- Ensure efficient supply of refreshments and sundries are available during the sessions/activities.
- Ensure volunteers and beneficiaries comply with health and safety and social distancing regulations.

- Through supervision and appraisal meetings identify own training needs and attend appropriate training courses.
- Respect and maintain confidentiality in relation to beneficiaries and staff.
- Contribute to the monitoring of the project progress, handling any issues that arise or referring them to the Project manager.
- Keep full records of work and write reports to a standard set by the organisation.

**EXPERIENCE**
- Supporting persons on probation
- Experience supporting vulnerable persons on probation and other vulnerable people (including those with a lived experience of mental health).
- Experience supporting vulnerable people to overcome substance misuse.
- Experience supporting and working with families of persons on probation.
- Extensive liaison with staff and outside agencies.
