Reporting to the Director of Medical Affairs Oncology, you will be primarily responsible for setting the strategic direction for the Thoracic Cancers Medical Affairs Team in the UK and be based at our Moorgate office in London 2 days a week.

**In this role you will**:

- Lead a group both at our head office in Moorgate, London and in the field, and work in collaboration with cross-functional counterparts, to provide expert strategic input in support of the objectives of the associated oncology therapeutic areas, including pipeline.
- Have overall responsibility for the development, execution and delivery of the tactical objectives of Medical Affairs Plans for the associated oncology therapeutic areas, including pipeline in UK, in alignment with the overall strategic objectives in the UK.
- Work within a UK framework in alignment with the direction provided by associated Regional Medical Affairs EMEAC and the Global Oncology Teams, identifying areas of strategic interest within the UK scope, and addressing those with a tactically focused Medical Affairs Plans.
- Have a healthcare professional-focused approach, developing professional relationships with scientific and clinical leaders in GI/Lung Oncology and supporting efforts in key strategic areas. These interactions may also extend to regulatory bodies, payer groups, CT organisations and key advocacy groups.
- Lead on behalf of our company, the collaborative relationships with our aligned oncology partners and drive the UK pipeline and early access strategyin close collaboration with aligned internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner with the Director of Medical Affairs for Oncology, the other Oncology Medical Affairs Heads and share medical/scientific expertise with his/her counterparts in other functional areas such as Medical Affairs Excellence, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Legal, clinical trial operations, clinical development teams and Marketing in the UK, and throughout the EMEAC Region as requested.
- Maintain responsibility for support towards new approvals and regulatory reporting as required To function in a non-promotional capacity for 100% of the time spent in role

**Key Responsibilities**
- Work in collaboration with the Director of Medical Affairs for Oncology, the other Oncology Medical Affairs Heads and the Medical Affairs United Kingdom and Ireland Leadership team (UKIMLT) to:

- Strategically plan for the implementation of our oncology medicines in associated cancers and utilising the team (and working in partnership with XFTs) to create Medical Affairs Plans (MAPs) for each key therapy area. Deliver, through leadership of the team, tactics in the CMAPs to a high standard of medical affairs excellence, and in doing so, seek to administer new capabilities for the team where needed. Represent Medical as the senior leader for our oncology portfolio and pipeline at clinical or scientific meetings, building strong relationships with top tier stakeholders in healthcare provision, academic research and commissioning.
- Working closely with External Affairs, Scientific Policy, to ensure detailed mapping of emerging and evolving UK life sciences capabilities and opportunities to connect these with UK CMAPs and global strategies.
- Ensure a detailed knowledge of the our early pipeline for oncology is developed and maintained and strategic engagement / alignment with discovery, development and search and evaluation teams to understand their needs.
- Undertake advice seeking activities for pipeline medicines and define the potential impact on the patient early in the development cycle.
- Translate early CT insight into a robust understanding of patient pathways and clinical practice to prepare the UK business for future launches.
- Working in close collaboration with Market Access and Outcomes Research, maintain oversight of UK medical affairs Phase 3b and phase 4 (RWE) projects, with matrix leadership of study operations and budget, delivering an inclusive data generation and publication plan.
- In partnership with market access and commercial colleagues, deliver effective horizon scanning activities and HTA submissions. This would include creating access programmes (where appropriate) to deliver medicines earlier to patients.
- Assess directorate team capabilities and operational status to ensure that the team are excelling in meeting UK regulatory and governance frameworks.
- Ensure that their team members track and maintain budget successfully and assist the Director of Medical Affairs for Oncology, along with other Heads of Medical Affairs Oncology in developing the yearly budget.
- Ensure that their team members follow and maintain process knowledge for their activities to meet requirements to be audit ready (e.g. by the MHRA)
