The Camden and Islington Crisis Single Point of Access which is currently based at Highgate Mental Health Centre requires a dynamic and experienced CRT clinician to support and lead this service. This is an opportunity to be part of a great crisis management team and have experience of leading clinically and operationally in a cross borough service.

Using your clinical experience you get to support and coach staff and deliver your vision of a service that offers safe, effective and responsive triaging which enables our service users in getting the right support, advice and signposting.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in playing a significant role as part of a leadership team in the support and expansion of a Crisis Single Point of Access service for the North London Mental Health Partnership.

Leading and managing a busy Crisis Single Point of Access. Working with the other Crisis Team Managers to ensure the service is innovative and of a high quality which have service users best interests at its heart.

The post holder will lead on governance and audit within the team, ensuring that team members are supported and developed to their potential and that new team members are comprehensively inducted and successfully integrated into the team.

The post holder will oversee the day to day running of the service and the service capacity. They will ensure staff are supported in triaging referrals and be responsive to escalations with complex referrals and decision making. The post holder will coach staff in providing support to service users with complex mental health problems in line with best practice and service objectives.

Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) provides high quality, safe and innovative mental health care to our patients in the community, in their homes or in hospital. We provide services for adults of working age, adults with learning difficulties, and older people in the London area. We currently deliver the majority of our care to residents in the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington.

To take operational day to day management responsibility at team level using performance management systems to ensure the effective delivery of activity

Work with the Operational Service Manager and be responsible for delivering governance within the team. This may include contributing to the writing of policy and procedure documents relating to clinical practice.

To establish effective risk management processes and ensure that delegated local health and fire safety responsibilities are met as required by statute, regulation, legal obligation and trust policies.

Work with the Operational Service Manager to ensure that staff are compliant with systems and processes to protect young children and vulnerable adults. Undertaking safeguarding investigations in accordance with policy.

To ensure that practices are in place that assess, determine and support Learning and Development, clinical supervision, managerial supervision and IPR processes.

To identify training needs in conjunction with the local workforce plan

To review referrals to the team on a regular basis, ensuring that allocation of new cases occurs in line with team policy.

Recognising service users as individuals will foster collaborative working with other agencies both in investigations and in joint working; agreeing the best approach to meeting individuals’ mental health, physical health, and recovery, social, spiritual and recreational care needs.

To deliver the service within existing budget, attending joint meetings with management accountants on a regular basis, taking remedial actions should pressures be identified.

To respond to complaints or other concerns as they arise and in accordance with trust policy, and in conjunction with the Operational Services Manager.

Deputise for the Operational Services Manager when required to do so; dealing with situations that may arise during that time.

To oversee the provision of clinical practice within the MDT to ensure clinical staff maintain accurate and up to date records.

Undertaking development work including audit.

To ensure that the physical health care needs of service users is assessed by team members

Ensuring the clinical environment are compliant with Trust Infection Control protocols and procedures.

To follow trust policy in promptly reporting all accidents and incidents.
Undertaking investigations when called upon to do so or nominating / supervising relevant others in this role.
