Content Lead
**Salary**: £32,100 to £41,700
Location: Cambridge
Contract: Fixed term until 31/05/23
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
**About the role**
As a Content Lead, your role will be to support authors and manage freelancers during the writing and development of designated content (which could be print, digital, or blended products). You will affect best-practice teaching methodology within our content and ensure that quality standards are adhered to at all stages of the publishing process.
You may sit in the content department, but you will collaborate with so many different teams that you will be an integral part of implementing our content. Directly working with teams such as commissioning, design and delivery, the creation of our content is your main goal. Indirectly working with our curriculum team and different exam boards (Cambridge International, OCR etc.), supporting the implementation of our content is your next big objective.
There will be lots of opportunities to get involved with working with a range of external stakeholders such as authors, development editors, suppliers, EDIB reviewers, teachers - the list is endless.
Working closely with an in-team buddy and with a Senior Content Lead as your own mentor, we will support you to develop your skills and thrive in this role. You will manage your own list of projects from day one, but will have regular project team meetings with different departments to support your full-rounded delivery of each project
A day to day in your role might look like:
- Determining suitable pedagogical features and approaches for new products, in conjunction with Commissioning Editors
- Participating in author briefing meetings, advising on editorial and content processes and working collaboratively to create and agree detailed writing plans
- Building effective author relationships in order to extract high quality content, while adhering to budget and schedule constraints
- Reviewing and approving author writing samples and draft manuscripts, advising on any editorial or pedagogical queries that may arise throughout the writing period
- Managing the content review process
- Checking and accepting final manuscripts
- Reviewing and resolving content queries at copyedit and proof stages
- Ensuring editorial quality standards are met throughout the duration of assigned projects
- Supporting the endorsement process by conducting quality checks.
***About you**
We are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual, with the ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Your previous experience of overseeing the creation of high-quality content, and a proven track record of managing a demanding workload in a fast-paced environment will make you successful in this role. Previous teaching experience would be an advantage.
For a full brief of what this role entails and what will make you successful, please see the full job description attached to the bottom of this vacancy on our careers page.
**Rewards and benefits**
We will support you to be at your best in work and to live well outside of it. In addition to competitive salaries, we offer a world-class, flexible rewards package, featuring family-friendly and planet-friendly benefits including:
- Group personal pension scheme
- Discretionary annual bonus
- Life assurance up to 4 x annual salary
- Private medical and Permanent Health Insurance
- Green travel schemes
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
We also offer flexible and hybrid working options from day one. We will consider any work arrangements if you wish to work flexibly or require adjustments due to a disability.
- Please note that Cambridge University Press & Assessment will not ordinarily be able to provide sponsorship for vacancies of less than 12-months in duration. Applicants must therefore have an existing right to work in the UK to be eligible for this position._
