We are the Environment Agency. We operate a 24/7 response to flooding and pollution incidents, protecting over 50,000 homes and 3,000 km of river and coastline. We also regulate industrial activities that pose the greatest risk to our rivers, sea and groundwater.
- As an Emergency Planning Advisor, you will play an important role in helping us tackle the impacts of the climate emergency across Hampshire, Sussex and the Isle of Wight. You will help shape and improve how we plan, prepare and respond to a wide range of incidents and emergencies. You'll also support the training and development of our staff, including our strategic and tactical managers, ensuring we are the best we can be at protecting our environment and communities.
- Our ability to respond to these challenges relies on building and maintaining effective relationships with our emergency response partners. In this role you will also take responsibility for how we work with our professional partners to deliver effective multi-agency response.
- You'll lead by example and will be expected to undertake an incident role yourself. Travel to other offices locally and nationally as well as to attend meetings with external partners and will be required as part of this role.

The team
- You will be part of the Area Incident Team in Solent and South Downs Area (SSD). The team works across Hampshire, Sussex and the Isle of Wight to lead, train and develop our staff in incident response. The team are motivated to ensure we deliver a first class incident response service, and that our staff are capable, committed and confident in responding to the increasing threats we face as a result of climate change.

Experience/skills required- a good understanding of Incident Management and Business Continuity Management (BCM) principles
- experience of training and developing others
- you'll be a confident and effective communicator
- have a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to implement change
- the ability to influence others at different levels of an organisation
- the ability to develop effective relationships both in the Environment Agency and with our professional partners
- you'll be motivated to make a meaningful contribution to our ability to respond to a wide range of environmental incidents
- have a willingness to build a strong understanding of the Environment Agency and our role in Incident Management
