**Job description**:
**The Challenge**
**Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Regional Delivery Overseas and Training (RD OS & Trg)**
DIO Regional Delivery Overseas and Training (OS&Trg) provides a range of infrastructure and training support functions across the UK and overseas. The organisation is Head of Establishment (HoE) for the UK Defence Training Estate, provides direct training support to UK Armed Forces and wider MOD, in addition to supporting Cadets, other Government Departments and foreign armed forces. We provide these services overseas in Germany, Canada, Kenya and Belize, where we are not HoE.
The Overseas Region & UK Defence Training Estate delivers a safe, balanced place to train. We do this by running and developing hard, soft and rural services, and providing training advice and mentorship to help our Armed Forces and other organisations to use the military training estate more optimally and efficiently.
OS&Trg lead all aspects of the provision of a Training Estate that is of the right size and standard against the endorsed need, fit for purpose, safe, well lead, balanced and critical to social and environmental considerations.
**The Role**
The East Coast Air Weapons Ranges (AWR) - Training Safety Marshal (TSM) operates from Donna Nook AWR and supports the East Coast Air Weapons Ranges - Training Safety Officer (TSO) in ensuring Donna Nook AWR and Holbeach AWR are safe places to train, work and visit through day-to-day delivery of a safe training environment for authorised users in order to support the endorsed contingent training requirements of Defence. The TSM must demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the ‘Safe System of Training’.
The post holder will require suitable experience to undertake Air and Aviation live fire activities and dry training to ensure that user’s training objectives are met and the range is optimised. A detailed knowledge of military training, experience in range planning and management are essential.
The TSM will support the TSO in ensuring that Site Specific Standing Orders and Risk Assessments are completed and in date, and they will be required to routinely engage with on-site RAF personnel and the Industry Partner. The post holder is required to act as the Establishment Fire Focal Point for both Donna Nook and Holbeach AWRs.

**Responsibilities**:
**Main Responsibilities**
- Coordinate the range team in order to deliver DIO Outputs.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to the DIO Guiding Principles
- Develop others and assist the TSO in delivery of the AWR’s mission.
- Promote strong working relationships both within the regional team and other teams across the wider DIO, RAF and Industry Partner.
- Support the TSO in ensuring compliance with mandatory regulations e.g. H&S, Fire Safety and Explosive Safety.
- Contribute to the provision of a Safe Place to Train in accordance with the Safe System of Training
- Support the TSO in maintaining the ecological and environmental sustainability of the training area; also provide advice to conservation bodies, interest groups and the wider public.
- Work with the TSO to ensure inspections are conducted in accordance with current policy and initiate repair work as required
- Routinely patrol the ranges as appropriate.
- Host user pre-training visits and advise on how to achieve optimum training benefit.
- Support the TSO in maintaining effective liaison with the Public, other collaborators and the wider MOD in order to champion collaborative working, safeguarding DIO’s reputation, and maintaining the consent to train.
