**1:1 Teaching Assistant - Trauma-Informed Support**

**Summary**
A nurturing mainstream primary school is seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs rooted in trauma. The pupil requires emotional support to stay engaged in the classroom. This is a part time, long-term role starting as soon as possible and offers the chance to make a meaningful difference during a key transition year.

**About the Role**
You’ll be working closely with one pupil to provide consistent emotional support and help them reintegrate into classroom life following a recent period of time out due to emotional distress. Your role will be to:

- Offer calm, patient 1:1 support to help the child feel safe and understood
- Use trauma-informed strategies to support emotional regulation throughout the day
- Encourage participation in learning while respecting the child’s emotional needs
- Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and wider team to follow a consistent, individualised plan
- Be a trusted adult the pupil can rely on during times of dysregulation

**Who We’re Looking For**
This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting pupils with SEMH, especially those affected by trauma. You’ll need to be emotionally resilient, reliable and nurturing, with a calm presence and strong instincts for when a child needs space, structure, or connection. Ideally, you bring:

- Experience supporting children with SEMH or trauma-related needs
- Knowledge of de-escalation and regulation strategies
- A compassionate, non-judgemental approach
- The ability to build trust and provide consistent, relationship-based support
- A relevant background in education, care, or youth work

**The School**
The school is known for its caring ethos and commitment to supporting children’s emotional wellbeing. Staff work closely together to create safe, inclusive classrooms where every pupil can be seen and heard. You’ll be warmly welcomed and supported by an experienced SEN team who understand the value of your role.

**Working Hours**
- Monday to Thursday: 1.00pm - 3.00pm
- Friday: 9.00am - 3.00pm
- Term time only
- Start date: ASAP

**The Benefits**
- Competitive pay
- A purposeful role with a clear, positive impact
- Long-term consistency in one setting

If you’re ready to bring your calm, steady presence into a child’s life where it’s needed most, we’d love to hear from you.
