Media Relations Officer

We are recruiting on behalf of our client who is looking to recruit a Media Relations Officer.
Duties of the role include:
- Working with the designated manager/colleagues to prepare, implement, monitor, and review communications plans/activities for key priorities
- Gaining positive media coverage for key priorities/services by developing/preparing media releases, photo opportunities, features, and media briefs
- Managing reactive media enquiries on behalf of the organisation, working to ensure that the media presents a fair/even/balanced view of the organisation, taking steps to protect/secure the reputation
- Providing a level of in-depth knowledge, support, and advice for a designated portfolio on media issues, including providing advice to lead Elected Members, Executive Directors, Directors, and Head of Service
- With the Media Relations Supervisor and Head of Communications, developing/maintaining good working relationships with the key journalists and reporters covering the organisation
- Working with the Media Relations Supervisor to develop and implement media strategies for high profile/sensitive issues
- Working with the Account Manager and Communications Officers, ensuring that media/public relations issues are built into campaigns planning, working closely with Communications Officers during the implementation of those campaigns
- Working to ensure that the Communications Strategy and the service’s overall business plan are delivered
- Participating in the media gateway rota/the out of hours media enquiries rota
- Monitoring/reporting on social media as required
- Working closely with colleagues to develop the organisations web, intranet sites, and other online assets as key communication/business channels
- Any other relevant duties as required
This position is a temporary contract of initially two months with a view to extend, working Monday-Friday 9-5, paying £16.42ph.
