Hays Technology are working in partnership with Loughborough University to recruit a Senior Business Analyst on a permanent basis.

**About the role**:
The role is part of Student Systems, IT Services and the LUSI (Loughborough University Student Information) Modernisation Programme. Loughborough develops and maintains its own student information system. This is an opportunity to help shape this uniquesystem and work with colleagues in delivering an excellent student experience.

**About your team**:
**Job Purpose**:
To undertake assigned business analysis, solution design, system documentation, software development and testing, according to agreed standards and guidelines and normally as part of a team, to meet the University's information systems’ requirements.

**Job Duties**:

- Leads information gathering, analysis, collation and documentation of specific and agreed information for both large and small-scale projects.
- Plan and lead workshops with a range of stakeholders including senior managers and the University executive.
- Selects and uses a variety of business analysis techniques including interviews, workshops, surveys, document analysis, product analysis, requirements catalogue, process mapping, data modelling and workflow analysis.
- Prepare analysis documentation, unambiguously and concisely, using diagrammatic representations where appropriate, and present proposals to business process review sponsors and stakeholders.
- Lead on the development of high-quality and accurate user stories, prioritised requirements catalogues, quality requirements, acceptance criteria and in understanding and documenting the business requirements, working with business sponsors and projectteams.
- Lead discussion with Enterprise Architecture to ensure solutions are best architectural fit.
- Works closely with a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility, adequate testing, support training, user training and user satisfaction.
- Engage with agile development teams providing specialist business analysis to ensure the impact of decisions on priority and of selecting backlog items for development is properly confidently representing the user and business viewpoint.
- Previous experience as a Business Analyst in a complex organisation/environment.
- Experience of complex business systems and practices, and IT architecture, information systems’ standards and methodologies.
- Experience of working with IT colleagues to develop an appropriate business process and technical solution to meet the identified requirements, and of writing technical specifications for developers to meet that requirement.
- Experience of working in an agile project environment
- Ability to present information professionally and in a format suitable to its intended audience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both IT and non-IT staff both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to get on well with people to develop ongoing constructive relationships and through resolving conflicts, including when under pressure.

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of working in a Higher Educational environment or similar organisation.
- Understanding of SQL, Oracle and/or Student Information Systems.
- Mentoring/coaching junior staff.
