**Job Summary**
We’re looking for a talented & passionate **Animator** to join our growing studio and take a key role in bringing our world and characters to life. You’ll be the first full-time animator in the team, helping establish our animation pipeline and defining the style and feel of the game.
You’ll work closely with our core developers to create expressive character performances, responsive gameplay animations, and cinematic sequences that reflect the project’s gritty, grounded tone.
**Responsibilities**
- Create high-quality animations for characters, vehicles, and environmental interactions in **Unreal Engine 5**.
- Work with programmers and artists to implement and refine animations in-engine.
- Help develop animation workflows and best practices for a small, agile team.
- Collaborate on cinematic moments and gameplay sequences that enhance storytelling.
- Ensure animations meet both aesthetic and performance standards for next-gen hardware. (PS6 Cycle)
- Assist with motion-capture clean-up, rig testing, and animation blueprint setup.
- Maintain an organised workflow using version control systems such as Perforce.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute innovative ideas for projects.
- Ensure all animations adhere to project timelines and quality standards.
**Experience**
- Experience as an animator on at least one shipped game or equivalent personal project.
- Strong understanding of body mechanics, timing, and weight.
- Proficiency in **Maya**, **MotionBuilder**, or **Blender**, and comfort working in **Unreal Engine 5**.
- Familiarity with **animation blueprints**, **IK systems**, and **rigging fundamentals**.
- A strong sense of realism and subtlety in character movement.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate closely with a small team.
**Adventitious**
- Experience with **physics-based animation**, **procedural systems**, or **ragdoll integration**.
- Knowledge of **facial animation** or **performance capture workflows**.
- Experience with **cinematics** or **Sequencer** in Unreal.
- An interest in grounded, character-driven storytelling and British film culture.
