3D Character Artist
Job Summary
We're looking for a talented Character Artist to join our growing team. At this stage of development, you'll be a key contributor in defining the visual identity of the project, creating lifelike, expressive characters while supporting other areas of art production as needed.
You'll work closely with our developers to build realistic human characters that reflect the tone of the game, focusing on detail, authenticity, and personality. This is a great opportunity for an artist who enjoys hands-on work across multiple disciplines and wants to help shape a project from its earliest stages.
Please note, you will be required to work on-site in our Camberley based studio. We're not looking to hire remote roles at this time.
Responsibilities
- Create realistic or hyper-realistic human characters with strong anatomy, clothing, and material definition.
- Sculpt, model, texture, and optimise assets for next-gen performance in Unreal Engine 5.
- Collaborate with programmers and animators to ensure seamless rigging and deformation.
- Support other areas of art, including props, vehicles, and environmental details - where needed.
- Help define visual benchmarks and workflows for the project.
- Maintain consistency across the game's visual style and quality bar.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Character Artist (ideally with at least one shipped title or a strong personal portfolio).
- Proficiency in ZBrush, Maya, Blender, Marvelous Designer, or similar modelling software.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, realistic materials, and PBR workflows.
- Experience with texturing tools such as Substance Painter/Designer and Photoshop.
- Comfort working within Unreal Engine 5, including material and lighting setup.
- A keen eye for realism, detail, and subtle storytelling through visual design.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, agile team environment.
Adventitious
- Experience with facial sculpting, blendshapes, or metahuman integration.
- Knowledge of clothing simulation, hair grooming, or scanning workflows.
- Ability to create hard-surface assets (weapons, vehicles, props).
- An interest in British film and culture or gritty, realistic narrative worlds.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary (based on experience).
- Opportunity to establish the visual tone and art direction of a new IP.
- Creative ownership within a small, passionate team.
- The chance to help shape an original, cinematic IP for next-generation platforms.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £25,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Camberley GU15 3YL: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
