**We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate HR Advisor. **This is an exciting time to join the business as we continue to transform the business to realise our growth ambition.**
The Graduate HR Advisor will be responsible for working with managers within their region of responsibility, providing HR support to all live project sites.
No one day will be the same You will be building your career in a challenging role, working with great autonomy in a very supportive team.
**Key Responsibilities**
- The individual is responsible for supporting all operational HR aspects of the employment life cycle across the region. The role provides the first point contact for all general HR issues relating to Company policy and procedure which cannot be resolved by the HR Service Centre.
- Build great relationships with key stakeholders, proactively managing all aspects of the life cycle
- Provide operational HR support to all projects within the designated region
- Provide HR advice and guidance on all policy and case matters
- Support the resource planning process across all relevant teams - mobilisation and right sizing
- Provide HR advice and guidance on industrial relations matters including trade union involvement, redundancy and TUPE
- Talent Management - to play an active role in the transfer of talent across the business, encouraging career development plans, succession and identification of key talent at local level
- Link with the Learning & Development function to support initiatives
- To support the annual performance review and career development review process
- HR systems - champion the use of MyHR with line managers and individuals at sites, providing support and guidance on maximising the potential of the system
- Reward & Benefits - provide guidance and advice on all reward queries
- Ensure Central HR policies, processes and initiatives are communicated and deployed effectively at site level
- Assist with the HR input to our work winning pre-qualifications and tenders
**Costain's Graduate Development Programme**
The programme will focus on helping you to grow your personal and leadership skills, alongside business and of course, the technical skills you will learn day-to-day on the job.
The programme is delivered in a variety of formats throughout the 2 years and will allow you to establish a network of contacts that will help and support you through your first 2 years and beyond. We expect some of our graduates to rotate after a period of 8-12 months, to another project/sector of the business to fully understand the depth and breadth of the services offered by the company.
Our line managers are fully supportive of the Graduate Development Programme and will be involved in helping you along the way.
In addition to the programme, we offer mentoring and support in every area of work, as well as a structured training programme to enable graduates to work towards achieving Chartership.
Graduates may have the opportunity to work on a number of exciting and progressive projects around the UK during the 2-year period, in sectors including nuclear, highways, rail, water, airports and tunnels.
**About you**
- You will have or expected to achieve a good result in a relevant discipline
- Experience and ability to demonstrate working at this level in a complex and fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders in multiple locations
- Experience working in HR in a complex setting is desirable
- Experience working in a similar role is desirable
- Ability to pro-actively manage risks associated with employee relations is expected after a period of experience
- Knowledge and interest of UK employment law and experience of dealing with TUPE, mergers & acquisitions, and employee & industrial relations issues
- Strong communication and relationship building capabilities
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
- Able to determine ‘needs’ rather than wants and coach/influence accordingly
- Flexible and able to adapt to change quickly
- Proactively manages own development
**Qualifications**
- Working towards CIPD level 7 or achieved Associate CIPD membership is desirable
