Having gone through significant modernisation in all aspects of the business, we are now seeking a Purchase Assistant to join the busy purchase team and ensure the success of the past is continued into future generations.

**The Role**

Based in the Birmingham head office and working in a fast paced, friendly environment with a flexible approach to the working day - you will find FP offers a great place to work.

With a committed, knowledgeable team, many having been with the company for 15+ years, you will be supported in your role and hopefully build some friends for life in your colleagues.

We source and supply a diverse range of products including PPE, Tooling, Consumables, Chemicals, Lifting Equipment, Janitorial, Maintenance, Measuring Equipment, Power Tools, Workwear, Welding Equipment and many more.

You will be a key member of the team who manage a multi-million-pound spend across hundreds of suppliers in support of the aerospace, automotive and power generation sectors.

You will represent us and the brand we are building. You play a significant role in creating a positive impression to suppliers and ensuring supplier relationships and loyalty are at the highest possible levels.

Day to Day duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Raising and amending purchase orders
- Progressing orders and dealing with queries
- Managing credit card purchases
- Checking invoices match order values
- Controlling stock movements (internal transfers)
- Managing direct deliveries to customers
- Assisting in administration of price negotiations
- Running weekly stock reports
- Providing general administrative support to the Purchase Department
- Liaising with other departments (sales, warehouse, finance) to assist in related processes and queries

**You**

You will be an excellent communicator, confident, driven and a logical thinker. Analytical, collaborative and calm under pressure. A great multi-tasker who will often be juggling multiple jobs in tandem.

You will have several years’ experience in a purchase role.

Experience of the industries we work in and the products we supply would be a plus but is not essential as you will be a quick learner who can take in the extensive knowledge of the team you will be working with.

Conflict resolution and problem solving is a must in handling queries. The ability to listen with patience and have the emotional intelligence to positively negotiate with key suppliers is essential.

You will:

- Have top level Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel skills, ideally certified
- Have strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Be able to react quickly and multi-task
- Work well within a team
- Have excellent time management skills
- Be able to work under pressure to strict deadlines
