Chief Nursing Information Officer

The role involves advocating for and supporting user focused digital transformation externally and internally. There will be cross-site working across two main hospital sites acting as an influencer and voice for nursing, midwifery and allied health professional in the strategic direction for the Trust. The CNIO will shape the design, implementation and use of digital solutions to ensure the delivery of high quality healthcare services.
The CNIO will also drive and lead on digital innovation and champion the development of a nursing information and data culture. They will lead and enable change, focusing on quality improvements through adoption of digital systems across the organisation.
The CNIO will serve a key principal informatics advisor to the Chief Digital Information Officer and the Chief Nurses’ office and lead the utilisation of technology to enhance care components of the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals Strategy, Quality and Patient Safety Strategy, and Quality Improvement Strategy.
The CNIO will work closely with the Chief Clinical Information Officer, Clinical Safety Officers, Head of Information Services, Head of Technology, Head of Quality Improvement and Strategy and Transformation teams as well as the Nursing/Midwifery and AHP’s professional leads to lead on digital transformation for their area within the organisation.
The CNIO will collaborate with technical, clinical and transformation teams to design future clinical processes and workflows, maximised for patient safety and service efficiency. They will help to improve access to point of care data in improvement measurement formats, such as SPC charts, to support frontline quality improvement efforts.
They are expected to influence and clinically lead (as part of a team with the CDIO and CCIO) the implementation of new and optimisation of existing digital systems for the benefit of patients, nurses, doctors, allied health professionals and other multidisciplinary care providers such as GPs and Social Care providers.
