**Liaises With**: Residential Manager, Deputy Manager, Care Workers, Educational and multi-disciplinary teams, external providers, and partnership organisations.

This role involves providing day-to-day care for young people, supporting them in activities, education, and statutory meetings related to their time in residential care. You will help ensure the homes are maintained to a high standard, including cooking, cleaning, and safeguarding the welfare of the young residents at all times.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Be part of a team of residential childcare workers involved in planning and organising the living environment for each young person.
- Serve as a positive role model for colleagues and young people, respecting each person’s unique racial, cultural, and religious needs.
- Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the young people to promote their sense of security.
- Provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment for the young residents.
- Encourage the development of individual interests and attitudes.
- Provide firm, consistent, and fair boundaries in respect of their behaviour and employ appropriate and agreed sanctions.
- Ensure that appropriate medical help is provided in cases of illness and accidents, complying with regulations regarding the maintenance of drugs on the premises.
- Promote, safeguard, and protect the welfare of each young person.
- Promote the development of a healthy lifestyle for young people.
- Assist young people in developing and sustaining positive social networks with adults and peer groups.
- Organise and participate in, and accompany young people on group activities and holidays.
- Assist and support young people through the process of leaving care.
- Encourage young people to develop their full educational and vocational attainment.
- Observe and assess the behaviour of young people in line with agreed protocols and in collaboration with multi-disciplinary team staff.
- Engage in and supervise day-to-day care practices, creating an environment conducive to the positive personal development of each young person.
- Plan for and prepare young people for admission or discharge from residential care, ensuring a stable transition.
- Physically intervene if a resident’s behaviour is dangerous to others or themselves, in accordance with procedural guidance and relevant legislation.
- Report missing persons to the police, responsible local authority, and those with parental responsibility.

**Skill/Experience**
- Proven and demonstrable experience in a similar role within residential childcare.
- Understanding of the physical, emotional, and social needs of young people.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with young people and colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Physical fitness to handle the demands of the role, including regular and repetitive lifting.
- Confidence and capability in managing challenging situations in a nurturing manner.

**Hours**:

- Shifts as required, including sleep-in duties and on-call availability.

Pay: £23,795.00-£26,168.92 per year
