**Due to contend expansion, we are seeking a proactive Senior Payroll Officer to join our Chesterfield based client.**

**Job Purpose**:

- Lead on the operational management of the payroll function, including any external payrolls provided under a service level agreement.
- To work closely with other services such as the HR Team and managers to deliver a customer focused service.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- To lead on the operational provision of a comprehensive payroll service including advice and guidance in relation to tax, national insurance, pensions etc.
- To line manage Payroll Officers.
- To perform all duties relating to the payment of salaries and allowances including, statutory and occupational pay schemes, allowances and related deductions and maintain all necessary records.
- To ensure that payroll deadlines are achieved, and the appropriate checking procedures are carried out to ensure the quality and accuracy of the payroll and that all entries are accounted for.
- Oversee the accurate calculation and timely processing of financial information, maintaining controls in accordance with legislation and procedures, ensuring information is stored accurately, appropriately, confidentially, minimising fraud and over payments.
- Prepare reports and statistical returns to drive forward effective compliance management, ensuring they are appropriate for internal and external audiences.
- To assist with the production of management reports and budgetary control information relating to employee costs and statutory deductions as required.
- To act as Systems Administrator in conjunction with the Payroll and HR Team and support with the development and maintenance of the HR and Payroll system and ensure that it is fit for purpose and that all date is accurate, timely and stored in accordance with appropriate legislation and procedures.
- To develop and implement fit for purpose Payroll procedures, processes and management information systems.
- To ensure accountancy, financial control and financial information requirements are met relevant to the payroll service.
- Contribute to the development of a customer focused approach to service delivery.

**Requirements**:

- Experience in payroll or finance and up to date knowledge of payroll legislation and regulations.
- Experience working towards tight deadlines.
- Experience of working with Frontier CHRIS HR/Payroll system.

**Skills**:

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to use own initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work accurately and pay attention to detail.

**Salary: £29,438 - £32,019 per annum.**

**Working hours: 37 hours per week.**

**This is a Full time, Permanent position.**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £29,438.00-£32,019.00 per year
