Located within York’s city walls and with views of York Minster, the hotel holds an enviable and proud position in the city and local community. Once the famed Headquarters of the North-eastern Railway Company, our magnificent building is bursting with original features and all the grandeur of its former life as the “Palace of Business” - making it a truly beautiful and inspiring place to work and grow.

As Concierge, you will work alongside the Head Concierge in maintaining the smooth running of the entrance to the Hotel, assisting guests with all aspects of anticipating guests needs, supervising and assisting Hall Porters, car jockeys and doorman whilst overseeing seamless arrival and departure journeys for our guests.

As a Concierge at The Grand York, a prestigious 5-star hotel, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, responsible for delivering personalized and impeccable service. You will assist guests with all inquiries and special requests, ensuring that their stay is memorable and exceeds their expectations.
Key Responsibilities:

- Guest Relations:

- Greet guests upon arrival and departure, ensuring a warm, friendly, and professional interaction.
- Offer assistance with luggage handling, transportation, and general inquiries.
- Provide personalized recommendations for dining, local attractions, shopping, cultural events, and more.
- Anticipate guest needs and provide tailored services to enhance their experience.
- Guest Services:

- Handle reservations for restaurants, tickets for shows, and arrangements for tours, transportation, and special events.
- Coordinate requests for special occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays, or other celebrations.
- Assist with booking spa treatments, fitness services, and any other hotel offerings.
- Ensure guest preferences are noted and accommodated to create a seamless and personalized experience.
- Collaboration & Communication:

- Liaise with other departments (e.g., Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage) to ensure all guest requests are fulfilled in a timely manner.
- Develop relationships with local businesses, including restaurants, tour companies, and entertainment venues, to provide exclusive services and offers to guests.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and management to relay important guest information and special requests.
- Problem Resolution:

- Handle guest complaints and concerns with professionalism, ensuring timely resolution and guest satisfaction.
- Escalate issues to the Head Concierge or management when necessary.
- Luxury Standards:

- Uphold the hotel’s reputation by delivering exceptional service in line with 5-star standards.
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of York’s local area, attractions, events, and history to offer valuable insights to guests.
- Ensure the concierge desk and lobby area are presentable and well-maintained at all times.

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Previous experience in a concierge or customer service role, preferably in a luxury or 5-star hotel setting.
- Strong knowledge of York and its surroundings, including key attractions, dining options, and cultural events.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with high-profile and international guests.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a calm, composed, and professional demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently.
- Additional language skills are a plus.
- A passion for hospitality and providing exceptional guest service.
