Fresh Start in Education are looking for experienced and person-centred SEN Learning Support Assistants to work on a 1:1 basis with primary-aged children with learning, communication and personal care needs in a primary educational setting.

This role involves planning and delivering communication, life skills and basic literacy and numeracy skills sessions in creative, practical and engaging ways on a 1:1 basis, as well as supporting the child in a whole-class setting where appropriate. The role will also involve emotional and behavioural support, as well as providing personal care when necessary, supported by another member of staff. Knowledge of Makaton or PECS is desirable.

We have placements in the Oxford area from a minimum of 6 hours a week, up to a maximum of 30 hours a week, so if you have the experience, empathy and commitment to transform lives, we would love to hear from you.

**The placement**:

- Working with your student on a 1:1 or basis in an educational setting in the Oxford area
- Planning & delivering life skills, communication and early literacy/numeracy skills sessions on a 1:1 basis
- Supporting 1:1 in a class setting where appropriate
- Bank Staff worker - providing short-term provisions as and when they arise, paid via PAYE

**What you need to apply**:

- Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience working with vulnerable children or young people with additional needs (SEN, SEMH needs and other barriers to learning)
- Experience planning and delivering life skills, communication and early literacy/numeracy skills sessions to primary-aged children
- Knowledge of Makaton or PECS
- A minimum of 2 consistent days a week for other bank staff placements
- A commitment to keeping children and young people safe and a practical and up to date knowledge of safeguarding
