Flomatik is actively seeking experienced telco focused Access Network Planners to join its busy team working on an ongoing national Network Consolidation programme of works for its client.
As part of a major programme of work and a set of business initiatives, the TDM Network is being decommissioned and retired, this includes the Switch and Access Network.
As a TDM Access Network Planner, your primary focus will be to compile each area Access Network Topology, as an accurate aide for Access Network Decommissioning, this will include Switch fed and non-Switch originated services, along with VM O2 internal services.
In order to compile each Topology, you must be conversant with the following:
- PDH / SDH Architecture
- CWDM / DWDM principles
- Fibre Optic Networks
- VM O2 Network Architecture & Network Management Systems (e.g., Cramer)
- Technical Sites including L1 & L2, transmission design,
- L3 Street cabinets equipment build
- Knowledge of technical site floor plans
- Knowledge of vendor equipment (e.g., Nokia, Tellabs, Marconi,)
Working with client representatives, you will be tasked with creating the detailed Topology packs to facilitate the total Access Network Decommissioning of Traffic and systems to be migrated, include business customers as well as residential.
Outline duties will develop from specific customer training and network familiarisation though to following key responsibilities:
- Undertake detailed technical site - desk top audits
- Executing and delivering detailed transmission design requirements
- Highlighting and escalating major design variances
- Providing a flexible approach in dealing with amendments to issued information
- Having a keen attention to detail and “right first time” approach to the assembly of detailed planning packs and as-built data
- Augmenting existing plans with legacy equipment, to include/feed new network extensions utilising the latest equipment and using the latest design specifications.
- Update and maintain client records
- Ensure accurate completion of all planned submissions and work is completed on time
- Progress reporting on planning work activities
A typical range of skills, aptitudes and understandings would include:
- Access Network Planning experience - proven Telco, Voice, Optical and HFC Planning experience
- Proven track record of planning successful projects
- Ability to draw together different technical disciplines
- A solid understanding of IP addressing
- A solid understanding of legacy Telco technologie
- An understanding of transmission design
- Attention to detail and accuracy coupled with a 'can do' attitude
- A desire to plan successful projects
- Ability to draw from a range of technical disciplines
- Able to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levels
- Awareness and understanding of health and safety in the workplace
