Consumer Panel Associate (Regulatory)

We’re recruiting for an Associate (Regulatory) to support the Financial Services Consumer Panel. This role would suit a proactive and flexible individual who is interested in how the FCA develops policy and wants to develop their knowledge and skills, and who is comfortable engaging with senior external stakeholders and across all levels in the FCA.

We consult the Panels on a confidential basis, and at an early stage, to help us understand the impact of our work. They provide views from the consumer perspective, from firms of all sizes across the different sectors that we regulate, and from market participants. They provide advice and constructive challenge to us at a strategic level when we are developing our policies and when we are deciding and implementing regulatory interventions.

The post-holder will work alongside other members of the Secretariat team to provide professional support to the Panel, to enable it to contribute high-quality and timely input to the FCA. They will help manage relationships with key stakeholders, including senior executives within the FCA.

Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Supporting Panel meetings, including maintaining forward agendas for the Panels, assisting with minute-taking and following up on action points, and contacting stakeholders as necessary- Managing and coordinating Panel research projects, reports and consultation responses as necessary- Liaising with stakeholders to ensure high-quality papers are provided ahead of deadlines- Helping to manage Panel membership and recruitment, supporting timely appointments and reappointments, and helping to onboard new Panel members- Managing relevant internal and external webpages- Collaborating with other members of the Panel Secretariat teams to coordinate with their work and provide ad hoc support as required

Skills and Experience
- Minimum criteria_- Good understanding of the FCA, including its role and objectives.- Experience of working in/with the financial services industry.- Evidence of strong stakeholder management skills.- Proven written and oral communication skills.
- Essential_- Experience of successfully managing stakeholder relationships including at senior levels- Strong drafting skills with a sound attention to detail and pride in ensuring high standards- Excellent organisational skills including the ability to plan carefully, prioritise effectively, track issues methodically and recognise where escalation is required- Ability to deliver successful outcomes to tight deadlines with the flexibility to juggle competing priorities and respond calmly to changing needs and requirements- The ability to follow agreed processes, using judgement to identify improvements and challenge constructively when appropriate- Strong team player, with the ability to work collaboratively to deliver successful outcomes with others- Experience of handling and safeguarding sensitive information
- Desirable_- A clear understanding of the impact of FCA regulation on firms and consumers.- Experience of organising and supporting senior-level meetings.- Understanding of the FCA’s or other organisation’s governance and decision-making frameworks.

About the FCA- This role is graded Associate Level 8 - Regulatory- The salary range in London is up to £60,000 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension- The salary range in Edinburgh & Leeds is up to £55,000 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension
