We are looking for a friendly, well-organised and adaptable HGV Vehicle Mechanic to join our encouraging and welcoming team of dedicated military reserve and regular soldiers, and civil servants at our Army Reserve Centre, Edinburgh.
**Job description**:
Military vehicles have become modern and highly specialised and specified. Keeping them in perfect condition is a significantly rewarding task.
You will be responsible for carrying out fault diagnosis of unit HGV vehicles and servicing and repairs of them in line with unit requirements, in order to deliver maximum vehicle fleet availability.
Management of the well specified workshop will be key to the overall success in the role and the existing team will advise on how to source consumables, tools and specialist equipment.

**Responsibilities**:
- Conduct level 1 & 2 Maintenance, servicing and inspections for all relevant equipment platforms as per the Unit Equipment Care Directive (UECD) and Engineering Management System (EMS) and any other pertinent policies.- Forecast Level 1 & 2 Maintenance in line with Battalion/Company priorities.
- Maintain issued personal tools and equipment and PPE.
- Assist with the management of the Company Equipment Table (ET) and Special Tools and Test Equipment (STTE).
- Manage the COSHH locker by supervising the substances within them.
- Monitor the Lifting and Recovery Equipment (LRE) within the Workshop, identify and quarantine out of date equipment by way of before and after use checks.
- Maintain and update the MODs Joint Asset Management Equipment Support Program (JAMES) accurately and in accordance with JAMES training and policy.
- Follow all relevant SHEF regulations.
- Demand and receipt spares in accordance with the UECD and EMS.
- Encourage and demonstrate the highest possible standards of Engineering hygiene.
- Complete the relevant familiarisation courses for the operation of the equipment held within their area of responsibility.
- Any other reasonable duties or details within their area of responsibility as advised by the Line Manager or functional lead.
Qualifications - Essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Motor Mechanics or recognised apprenticeship in Motor Vehicle Technology
Or
Former Army/Royal Marine VM Class One
Or
MOD (RAF) Vehicle Inspector - Q-GM (1) V-Insp
- Must hold a C+E licence
