**Starting salary**:£18.5k-20k (pro rata £7,410-£8,910)
First Steps ED have identified an opportunity to expand and invest in our communications and fundraising to help our team to continue to raise awareness and vital funds for our life-changing work for those impacted by eating difficulties and disorders.
We have a fantastic range of services and support channels for those looking for specialist eating disorder support and/or early intervention and prevention support for those struggling poor body image or relationship with food. However, we believe there is still an opportunity to build on these foundations which is why are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join us and help raise funds to enhance and improve the experience of our service users and stakeholders, ensuring we keep our wait-lists short and our service offering to a high standard.
Our new ‘Communications and Fundraising’ officer role is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a creative who wishes to get involved in the further development of our marketing campaigns, internal communications and digital fundraising appeal - joining a small team who is here to make a big impact. Reporting to our Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Lead, you’ll be taking an active role in creating person-centred and insight-led content and campaigns that engage our service users and stakeholders, as well as contributing to our annual fundraising and donations targets.
**What will the role involve?**
- **Development of our Internal communications. **You will take a digital first approach to ensure that our internal stakeholders are engaged and involved in our mission, strategy and objectives, and that their views are heard. You will be proactive in your approach to internal communications, continually looking for ways to improve communications with staff, volunteers and stakeholders.
- **Resources to support service development. **You’ll play a key role in the development of comprehensive and high-quality resources for all of our service leads. This includes promotion, resources (flyers, leaflets, posters), workshop and training presentations and resources, as well as handouts, guides and booklets for pre/post
- treatment support (open-access).
- **Fundraising and community engagement. **You will have the confidence to be in the spotlight when it comes to any of our fundraising initiatives, PR and media opportunities, as well as having the organisational skills to manage press and community fundraising efforts.
- **Digital campaign management. **As part of our communications team, you will support First
Steps ED marketing campaigns which target potential service users and stakeholders to drive engagement, demonstrate our core values and the value of our service and support pathway to potential funders.
- **Be a team player.** It’s all about flexibility, understanding that one day you could be on the phone to one of our passionate fundraisers, discussing blogs and event ideas, and the next you could be designing resources for our fantastic teams to work through with our service users. We are a
close-knit team and community, sometimes it’s all hands-on deck to deliver urgent requirements for the charity and fundraisers. You can expect to get stuck into a real mix of service development, working project groups and ideas that need a quick turnaround.
**What skills, knowledge and experience are we looking for?**
- A confident communicator, who can work seamlessly with a range of teams and stakeholders to deliver great campaigns and outcomes.
- Highly motivated and results-oriented who feels content working alongside their line manager to monitor and measure KPIs and continuously improve.
- Experience developing marketing communications, with (ideally) hands-on experience of planning and delivering campaigns across all channels. This would include the ability to create personalised content for our digital channels (social media, newsletter and website)
- You value great copy and feel comfortable working with complex information to create user
- friendly and simplified resources and blogs, tailored to our audience. (Proficient in Microsoft
Office (Word, Excel and PPT etc.))
- An enthusiasm to create imaginative, innovative and effective campaigns and fundraising events
/ challenges.
- Enjoys working both independently, as well as part of our wonderful team - having the confidence to question, challenge and push ideas and projects forward. (If you were to work remotely, to also be able to work flexibly and under own initiative to ensure deadlines are met and tasks prioritised.)
