Housekeeping Assistant

The Grand Hotel is one of Torquay’s finest 4 star hotels situated opposite Torre Abbey Sands with a spectacular view over the bay The hotel consists of over 120 bedrooms forming different individual styles and views, The 1881 Restaurant, The Brasserie & Lounge, Leisure & Spa Facilities with indoor and outdoor swimming pools along with perfect events spaces which accommodates meetings, weddings and events. The hotel is part of The Richardson Hotel Group which is a established hotel group operating additional hotels in Torquay, Falmouth & Exmouth.

Following business expansion, we are now looking to recruit hospitality individuals to be part of our ongoing journey in continuing the development of our hotel business. As part of our exciting recruitment program we are looking to recruit a Housekeeping Assistant to join our hotel, reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor and Head Linen Porter.

The position is full time and is based upon 5 days over 7 offering shifts on a flexible basis from 9am each day to be discussed at the interview stage, due to the nature of the business you will be required to work during peak seasonal holidays along with rotational weekends.

**Main Purpose of Job**

As a Room Attendant your main responsibilities are to service all rooms to a high standard of cleanliness whether for a departure or stay. To carry out all duties as instructed by the Head Housekeeper

**Main Responsibilities**
- To be responsible for a section of rooms as designated by the Head Housekeeper
- To maintain a high standard of cleanliness in bedrooms whether they are a stay or a departure
- To ensure that all linen is used economically and that any stained or damaged linen is dealt with appropriately and returned to the Linen Porter
- All dirty linen to be placed in designated areas as instructed
- To ensure corridors adjacent to the rooms you are cleaning are cleaned appropriately
- To remove all room service trays for corridors and place in service cupboards
- To ensure high level and corridor cleaning is completed to a high standard
- Any property left in a bedroom is to be taken to the Housekeeping Manager’s office at the earliest opportunity and entered into the lost property book in the office. Details to be recorded include where the item/s were fond, date, time and staff member’s name
- Be aware of energy conservation by turning down radiators and switching off lights in rooms
- Ensure all rooms are locked after being serviced
- Report any “do not disturb” or rooms not serviced at the earliest opportunity
- Check corridor bins and empty as needed
- To keep all service areas clean and tidy
- To keep all equipment (including buckets/trolleys/vacuum cleaners) clean and tidy
- Return any rooms service trays, crockery or glassware that do not belong in the rooms to the service cupboards
- To restock trolley with sundries before going off duty
- To be responsible for the safe custody of keys whilst in your possession, ensuring that they remain securely on your person during your shift and sign them back in at the end of each day
- To ensure that all equipment and products are used as efficiently and economically as possible, always following the manufacturer’s instructions which is laid down in the cleaning schedule
- You should report for duty on time and ensure you are wearing the correct uniform

Pay is in accordance with National Living wage
