**Purpose of the Role**
Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide expert advice and support to Gypsies and Travellers, empowering them with the skills and knowledge to live independently.
In this role, you will provide essential guidance on a range of social welfare issues, including:
✔ **Welfare Benefits** - Assisting individuals in accessing and understanding their entitlements.
✔ **Housing & Accommodation** - Supporting individuals in securing suitable accommodation, navigating tenancy rights, and preventing homelessness.
✔ **Debt & Financial Wellbeing** - Offering practical advice on managing debt and budgeting support
✔ **Employment & Education** - Helping individuals access training, employment opportunities, and educational support.
✔ **Health & Social Care** - Signposting to healthcare services and advocating for fair access to essential support.
✔ **Discrimination & Legal Rights** - Providing information on equality, discrimination, and referrals to organisation’s that can support with this.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide enabling advice, information and support to Gypsies and Travellers to ensure they are better able to manage their health, well-being, household, and budget management.
2. Interview clients in a way that listens to their needs, using questioning skills that makes them able to explain the issues they are facing and set their own priorities.
3. Respond to Gypsies and Travellers' needs consistent with the aims and work methods of Gypsies and Travellers Wales through a combination of Drop-in advice sessions, over the phone advice and outreach advice appointments.
4. Provide Information and Guidance, Advice, Advice with Casework and Specialist Advice to Gypsies and Travellers to enable them to maximise income, access benefits, education, housing and health, justice, and manage their debt.
5. Develop strong working relationships to ensure smooth referrals to and liaising with relevant agencies and individuals with or on behalf of clients.
6. Work closely with the team in reviewing needs, risks and support plans and maintain detailed case records for the purpose of continuity of casework, information retrieval, statistical monitoring and report preparation.
7. Act for the client when necessary by calculating, negotiating, telephoning and drafting or writing letters and support to deal with correspondence.
8. Negotiating with third parties where necessary on clients behalf.
9. Representing and advocating with/for Service Users.
10. To maximise the incomes Gypsies and Travellers through the provision of advice and support.
11. Facilitate feedback from Gypsies and Travellers on the services of the organisation and encourage their input to the development of Gypsies & Travellers Wales.
**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Maintain a working knowledge of current information, policies and legislation that could affect Gypsies and Travellers.
- Having a good sound knowledge of all areas of Social Welfare Law and the legislation and guidance that underpins it.
- Undertake regular training relevant to your role.
- Read relevant publications and keep up to date with all changes to relevant legislation and guidance.
5. Create appropriate opportunities to enable Gypsies and Travellers’ views to inform policy development.
6. Provide reports to and meet regularly with manager for supervision and annual appraisal.
7. Undertake benefit tribunal work.
8. Contribute to strategy and policy planning for the organisation, and effective work delivery, through staff team meetings and other working groups.
9. Prepare regular reports for and attend the Trustees as required.
10. Other reasonable duties as may be necessary.

Pay: £24,000.00-£27,000.00 per year
